I have an old RV, "the Ramanator" it is a 1979 dodge motor home, 360 ci. dodge.
we fixed her all up on the inside, with Rams stuff, and use it 10 or 12 times a year to tailgate at football games. It now officially hates me.
starts and runs great until warm, then sputters and dies.
New fuel pump and filter.
New carb
new coil
new dist
we think it's a fuel issue, but have thrown parts at that area.
it cranks won't fire up, let it sit for 15 minutes, fires right up.

anyone dealt with this type of problem, please chime in. :dontknow:

I maybe wrong, but I suspect electrical. Thinking about it, the only variable in your problem is heat. You've replaced things, how about the connections to those things, something has an ok connection when cold, but when it heats up an expands, causing a disconnect?

In carb engine a quick way to check if you have fuel problem is trickle a little gas out of a cup into the carb as someone cranks.... you'll know right away if gas or spark. a safer, but less fun way to check would be to pull a plug when hot and crank away :-)

Just thoughts..

Good Luck

My ole dodge truck did the same thing...I had to cover fuel lines along the frame rail as they were getting too hot from exhaust

I had a Dodge truck that did the same thing. I replaced the module in the distributor and the problem was fixed.

Did you replace the distributor before or after the symptoms presented? What kind of timing advance does it have, vacuum?

Could be a fuel delivery issue too, can you put an inline pressure gauge before the carb and monitor the pressure?

we have narrowed the problem down to a fuel issue.

we just replaced the rubber fuel line from the fuel pump
it was old and flabby like me.
so far so good, the gas gauge also does not work so we are goin
to drop the tank, get it cleaned up and put a new sending unit on it.
wish me luck, 2 weeks until the first tailgating, i shore hope she's running by then.
