Hey guys...I wanted to pick up a Tech 1A off that auction site some time. However, they are usually advertised with a lot of accessories. My questions is: what exact cartridges are REQUIRED to make it work on my 94? Never owning one makes it very confusing.

As many as you get. Most modules have the year model covered on the top side of the cartridge. At a minimum you need the following for your year

The ABS system
The ECM system
The Body System/ Chasis
EEPROM

These are going off memory but there are a lot of cables and adaptors you will need at well

The cartridges are identified like this: "GM 81-92 ECM CARTRIDGE"; "GM 88-92 BODY SYSTEMS CARTRIDGE", etc. You should get cartridges that cover your car. You should also get a manual for each cartridge. My car is a 1990 so the above cartridges cover mine. You also need a vehicle adaptor that fits your ALDL. Mine is a 12 pin. The Tech 1A should come with a power cord that plugs into the cig lighter, and a 14 pin cord. It also may come with a self test adaptor and/or auxillary instrumentation cables such as a "Multimeter test lead".

I still need a "GM88-92 BRAKE" cartridge pn: TK03030B if anyone happens to have one.

Thanks much for the information. I'd sure like to pick up one of these things as it would make following the flow charts in the FSM a lot easier.

I just picked up a tech 1 off a guy on craigslist and it came with a ton of cartriges, only One I have used yet is the mass storage one.

Thing showed me when I turn off my # 6 injector the motor runs the same when I turn off the others the motor starts to bog down so I have a dead cylinder at the moment! this thing confirmend what I had already though was my problem cylinder but its sweet!

Johnny is there a procedure to delete the old data on the mass storage cartridges? I have a lot of those little buggers.
