ok members,
I'm talking with our friend in Finland again and they want to sell the windshields they made....
We would need to have @ least 25 windshields presold before they will ship. Costs look to be under $1200 and will need to be picked up in the Baltimore area.
I know of @ least 5 people that want them badly and 5 others that will purchase "if" it is 100%.
These windshileds are "perfect" and won't delaminate, BUT for NCRS the logo is on the wrong side.
Please post if you are interested and say what windshield you need (early or late).
If you would need to get it shipped other than Baltimore, I don't want to take responsibility of "shipping" it and would take it to UPS to have it properly wrapped / protected.
Hope this works out for the people that need it!
Cheers
David

I Have one from the original group purchase. If anyone wants some pics let me know. Excellent quality, from what I remember a couple of NCRS guys said you lose points for condition or you lose for non original. You pick your poison. :dontknow:

Hi Dave,
This is good news that Antti is going to supply these to you, since it would appear that a price break has been agreed upon, although i suspect that Antti has a "lot" more wiggle room in there (Read his cost)
On a side note, i would like also to get in on the order & request that Antti send me the 4 windshields (2 early & 2 Late) that were short, from the previous order. That should help boost the minimum order to 25.

I'd also consider "another" new windshield if the price was right.

Kurt,
Not a problem to add what he owes you on the order, but I think I need "25 paid" and not what he owes ya.
I'll make sure to talk to him about it and then talk to you.
Cheers!

Standard C4 windshields are availalbe for about $400 to $500.
I'm interested in a late windshield if safe shipping is available.

Hello and welcome to the forum. :handshak:
It has been a while since I spoke with Atti (Finland windshield supplier), but I doubt Dave will be able to get the price that low. Remember these are already manufactured and sitting in another country. When you account for exchange rates, import fees, international shipping, etc., they are not going to be inexpensive.
I am sure Dave will do his best to get the lowest cost, but those who want then in the $700 range are not taking the aforementioned into consideration.

i have to disagree. i purchased one and although it does have a cutout that is hardly noticable it is far from what i would consider something that only ncrs judges could tell from oem.
i was told that the only diff would be the lack of or misplacement of the "kooloff" logo and to be honest i could care less if it said made in japan since the logo is as big as my fingernail. =)
but what did bother me was that the first thing that was noticed is that the glass is not laminated in purple , if it didnt have the cutout you wouldn't be able to tell it is laminated at all. even next to a regular car it still does not look much diff. my oem looked purple from a mile away.(purple windshield is kinda one of the zr-1 givaways) ;)
aside from that there was also major distortion in it and waves that could be seen and felt ,maybe i just got a bad one out of the batch. i just wish the product was represented moreso what it really is.
the company that makes them is a VERY good company(same company that made the glass for my porsche)
i dont see why it is soo difficult to make it the correct colour, the olds sillouette vans have them, the pontiac minivans have them, the old caprice wagons have them and none of them have delamination problems.....:worship:

If I didn't have to pick it up in Baltimore, I'd take one for my 91. Any way of getting it shipped to Atlanta?

Problem is, who would take responsibility if it was broken from Baltimore to Atlanta.
Trying to work it all out.... I would LOVE to have one of these as a spare, but how much drama will it be to get them here and hwo much will it eventually cost.
Hopefully we will have a breakdown soon

Glad to hear someone comment on this. I wondered about the purple coloring of these aftermarket ones. I love that feature of the OEM one:

And that is the crux of the issue. Shipping the glass once in the states.

I have a shipper that uses UPS freight. I've got a call into them to see if they can answer this question.

If there is a way to have them boxed up and make it reasonable for people wanting windshields, great!!!!!

Just FYI, if you are doing these windshields for NCRS:
The judges will take off just as many points for this windshield as a regular C4 windshield. SO unless you are looking for the purple windshield look (which some people say these don't have) or a cutout then a regular C4 windshield for $250 probably makes more sense.

i had a repro and its definatly not purple(at least not until it cracked ) then it strted to take on a more purple hue :dontknow: go figure.
i talked to kurt bout it and he said the same colour laminate was used in the repros as the original gm so who knows y they dont look as purple. mayb they have to age a little first :)
