View Full Version : Let's get count for 9.26 Corvette Challenge

The Crown Point Indiana CC has invited us to their 2nd annual Corvette Challenge at US 41 Dragway. It's a charity event and we have the track all day. I'd like to give Jeff Greystone an idea on number of ZR-1s ready to show up for this. 3 of us did it last year and we had fun opening some C6 and C5 eyeball. We can also run as a club for honors with enough cars. Paul Workman said he was going work on an "official" FBI shirt for us too.
So who's planning on coming? Let's see all those new P&P motors show up with what they got. Hans? Don? Hmmmmm?!!
BTW, it's $25 + $10 registration fee. There's food and drinks too!
Really reasonable for a day at the track. We should also plan out a caravan going
down there.

I will keep count on this firs post and continue updating as we go:
So far we have:

Lgaff
Ccmano
Pete
XfireZ51
RiceEating ZR-1
BobZR-1
BobG
AL?
PWorkman
Marc (OBD-WAN)
jimmac

I'm in, I'll be back from Reno during that week before. For the FBI Tee Shirt designs, let me know if I should ask my son the graphic artist to make something up?

Hans,

That's a great idea. How about if the face of the shirt is the top view of an LT-5 with the air horn seeming to be part of the wearer's trachea. Then the plenum branches out to the cylinder heads which look as if they were the wearer's lungs.

I’ll be there; by the way Windy City Corvettes sent an email to all club members (which I’m one) about it. Mostly C5, C6 autocross dudes, boy am I looking forward to seeing this and meeting you guy's:worship:, I’m the only ZR1 in the club.

Dom,

I went by Marc Hiabeck's shop this afternoon to pick up some cam bolts. I mentioned the Corvette Challenge, and he indicated that he'd like to attend, barring any unforeseen conflicts. WooHoo!

Starting to shape up, ain't it!

That's excellent. Nothing like having OBD-WAN along with us. (Marc, you realize I use that as a term of utmost respect :worship: . One of the reasons Chicago is the hub of the ZR-1 universe.)

That would be awesome if Marc can make it.
If some of the Indy boys come it would be like a little mini BG.

Hans,
If you (or anyone) has access to a graphic artist that would like to "capture" the spirit of the FBI in a graphic, I can get T-shirts or sweatshirts or whatever done up at cost (I have a side bitness doing promotional stuff). Put them in touch w/ me, as there are formatting concerns to be considered to get it done reasonably cheaply.

Oh...Dis gonna be some fun!!

I'm working on it already. He's done t-shirt graphics work before. I sent him an outline and some of the standard ZR-1 related graphics a few days ago. We'll see what he comes up with.

This has been posted over at the website that shall remain nameless.
Looks like its shaping up to be quite an event.

http://forums.*************.com/great-lakes/2407144-its-back-2nd-annual-all-corvette-challenge-at-us41-dragway.html#post1571294764

You'll need to add the corvette forum in the link.

Guys,

Here's an additional update from Crown Point Group. This event is really shaping up.

Hi Everyone,

2 things...

First, the drag day is looking very, very good!! I have over 30 cars coming so far and that doesn't include any Indiana clubs yet! http://mail.yimg.com/a/i/mesg/tsmileys2/11.gif I spoke with the dragstrip owner and I was mistaken...we are not sharing the track with other test and tuners, we have the entire track to ourselves from 9am-3:30! I foresee alot more than last year. 100 vettes would not be out of the question at this rate!!Also, I received an additional $200 from my union, local 12775, once again to help the cause! We had a great showing from our club last year and I hope this year we see even more. NWI and Valpo Vettes, I hope you can make it out to join us! It was a blast!

Second, the dyno day on Sept 13th in Crown Point is all setup. So far we have 11 people who are going to dyno their cars. Remember, you get 2 pulls for your $$ which is looking around the $40-$50 range which is dirt cheap for dyno'ing a car, trust me I know. A few more would be great and would also lower the overall cost per car. We are having food and drinks on site from the club. Everything will be done outside weather permitting. I believe we are going to bring a few corn toss games as well! Please let Brian know asap if you want to dyno as the list is filling up. His contact number again is 708-212-4413 to RSVP the dyno or to get directions. Everyone is invited even if you are not dyno'ing your car!!
Come out, have some food and a few drinks and watch the others run their cars.

Please pass along both of these items to all the vette owners you know. Thanks.

Larry can't make it either.

The only other person that i can think of that lives in Indiana is Brian A. i don't have his email,i'm sure there are more Indiana members but i don't know who they are.
I think Larry is Indiane State Director.
I will ask him if he can email the members.

From futuretech on requirements:

"No helmets were required last year. They ran convertibles without bars.

They won't check you helmet if you bring one. I wear mine to be consistent with other tracks."

I'm bringing mine anyway.

Thanks guys. This morning we got a call telling us my wife's mother also passed at 3am. The only silver lining here is that she didn't know her son had died and he was not here for his mother's passing. We can't believe this is really happening. The family is being whipsawed. This is just tragic.
