That is sweet! I wonder what the reserve might be? Those are some damn Big Dymags. 17X12 fronts....17x13 rears.

I'll bet that the chassis prep cost as much as what a regular 91 ZR-1 in top shape would be worth.
Just reading the chassis specs made me sweat! That must be one sweeeet handlin' machine.
:( sure wish I made more money....there are some fine ZR-1's up for sale lately.

Only 175 miles away from me....that'd be a fun Saturday drive to check it out. Those wheels and brakes alone are worth big $$.

I have a smaller set on my 92, and a complete set of 17X9.5s in my basement off a challenge car. Wish I could find 2 more 17X11s, looked into widening them, but Magnesium is too brittle.

Look at the engine bay shots. Along the fender wells, you will see some 2 inch thick tubes. There to help in frontal impact and also shore up the frame. A lot better than that R&D cross brace, but more invasive.

The way this thing is advertised it only has the DRM top end package and that is a far cry from the black widow motors that he claims it is.
the claims in the auction that he stated top end porting head porting and came degreeing is what my car got with the DRM 500 engine package but it is far from a black widow.

Good evening Gentleman, I am the seller of this car, not my car of course, but selling it. I am presently doing more research on the car because of all the conflicting stories "must have red lettering on the black motor" which the engine pictures in the heart of the beast publication do not have red letters.
Also this car has a 41 in the build sheet which indicates this to be a black/black car not white, so I can't say when the car was painted, but it may have been painted when the car was built by Rippie and Dieline to match there race Vettes? unknown? The rims on this car were white at one time as well.
This car is the real deal, I may have made an error in the HP, that is unknown yet, I am working on that, I have contacted Randy Rippie, with a couple emails to try and get more info on the car. I now have Dougs current number, so I can try to get all the information on this car before I relist the car. We have also left messages with Jay Grundyke the original owner to get the information from him. We have stacks of paperwork from all that has been done with the car, all service records and such. This car has not been rode hard, it has never been plated by this owner in 9 yrs, its been garaged and babied, and just been driven locally.
I was told there were 6 sets of these rims available, I have contacted Dymag, I have sent them pictures, I am trying to get documentation to back that up, the owner of the car was offered $4000 for the wheels but wanted to keep the car what it was when it left dieline. He also has owned many Vettes, this is 1 of 2 that he owns at the present time.
If you have any questions about the car that need answered, he may be able to help you, there is a twin of this car at Bowling Green for $75000, which has a rebuilt engine, New set of wheels. This is #1639,paint code Black/Black, this may be one that is missing from info I found on ZR1.net? There were 8 of these cars made. This car could have been a steal on ebay?
Have a good night, you have a very nice website. If you have any info on this car, I need it. I am not out to take advantage of anyone, we want to sell the car, truthfully, not give out false claims.
BTW, I own a 1978 F150 with a Lingenfelter built 460, He builds nice Ford engines as well.
Thanks
Jeffvette

Jay was not one of the original owners of a Black Widow car.

So why the black motor? I'm confused, I have seen information saying that this points to being his car, and it does have a black motor? Still need more info? Why do you say that?

My question is,
What's so special about Black Widow?
Why would anybody pay extra for a Black Widow?
Does anybody have any specs on the car/motor mods, cams, headers, exhaust, suspension, ect,.

If you want a black motor, I can do one for you. I've done three in the past year.
These cars are well rare and have a unique story behind them. There is a lot known on these cars.
#1 1991 White/Steel Blue.. David Herrington
#2 1991 Black/Black.......... Wait Steve
#3 1990 Black................... Glenn Greider
#4 1993 Ruby/Ruby........... Jerry Crews
#5 1991 Black................... Joe Whitney
#6 1992 Red/Black............ Dr Michael Jackson
#7 1993 Aqua................... Mark Schultz
#8 1991 White/Grey.......... Jim Van Dorn
Found some info middle of the page.
What a differance between technology back then and now on the LT5.
A 385 running 122MPH a nicely ported 350 does that today. :-)

Thanks Jeff, Pete, I am getting new info on the car. The owner talked with Doug Rippie today, and as it turns out this car may even be rarer than the 8 built by Rippie. The car was indeed built by Kim baker and Dieline Racing before Doug ever got involved. It is a black motor car but not the famed Black Widow car. The widow car did not use these style brakes, and did not have front cage bar this car has. Doug went on to explain that Kim Baker was heavily involved in the original tuning of the black motors before Doug got involved. Still searching.
This car has the DRM-500 chip, It has the black motor. The service records show the car belonged to Hansen an engineer for Dieline racing, and the paperwork references Jay's car in a few places including Jay's number. Dieline returned the call today but he missed the call. So he will try to get in touch tomorrow.
I found out the Dymag wheels seem to be limited in these widths, I will forward the serial numbers to them tomorrow and see who the original purchaser was, they have been helpful as well.
I will move this from the for sale post to a general discussion on the car. I appreciate the help

Jeff Isn't that the list of the ORIGINAL Black Widow owners?
When I was searching with the guy in Australia who wanted one, we were trying to locate the CURRENT owners of the Black Widows. That was done about 2-3 years ago but I gave up searching because of too many dead ends. The current status of my searches is listed in this thread http://zr1netregistry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9560

Pete asks, "Why would anybody pay extra for a Black Widow?"
Because there were only 8 ever made
You might try this link to see what one of the original 8 has
