View Full Version : Here's the big question Wife or car?

I'm sure this question has be brought up before. How many of you get biotched at by your wife because you supposedly spend more time with your car than you do with her? - mine has even gone so far as to say I must be having an intimate affair with it.
So which should I get rid of, the car or the wife? :dontknow:

There are millions of women, but not that many ZR-1s........wife goes. ZR-1s are also cheaper.

I'm one of the lucky ones I guess, my wife encouraged me to buy the car and insisted we postpone the wedding by a year to do so and supports me 100% with my obsession.
I'd trade her before the ZR-1 though... ;)

I can't vote. The wife left and then I got the car.
Sal, what's up with the hydraulic system?
I told the wife that "she should have been born with two doors"..............that one didn't go over too good.
Then I continued sticking the size 10 in my big mouth with , "and 4 tires."
Still very married. 30 year's August 25th.

Lee,
I know you are saying this tongue in cheek otherwise you have slipped the noose around your own neck.
There's bound to be a link sent anonymously to your wife's email addy.:sign10::sign10:

LOL - so these cars cause wives to leave on their own accord?
Actually I haven't had a chance to play with the car last night - she "requested" I sit and watch a movie with her instead. Can you guess where my mind was that whole time?

Just tell her the car keeps you from spending more time hanging out at the pool hall gambling with your drinking buddies.

Wifey (of 25 years) told me that I could have ONE midlife crisis.
So, taking all things into consideration, I bought the ZR1.
True to form, my "Girlfriend" has been EXTREMELY High Maintenance and has gotten me into LOTS of trouble.
Go figure.

I have been accused of the same ever since I got married (73 Dodge Challenger R/T, 79 Trans Am, 79 Corvette, 84 Corvette, 91 ZR1, 93 BMW 850 CI and finally 94 ZR1). That was 31 years ago.
Solution? Replace the car with another one (could be another ZR-1) and then tell her you changed the car but will never trade her in!

While on the subject - we all heard the expression "a car can be replaced but a person can't!" Well, if I ever wreck my car, I will replaced with another 94 ZR1. However, if I ever got divorced wife will never be replaced.

The trick is picking a a gal for a wife that already own her own Vette. And, for her birthday last year she asked for side-pipes for her 69 Vert. I don't have the usual rivalry crap with Ami that I had with previous "ball and chain"!:sign10:

And try my best not to become a daddy again.

I love my both boys (26 & 22). But no more baby seats, strollers, diaper bags, pony league and worst of all college tuitions (should end this December) not to mention laptops, ipods, iphones, etc, etc, etc...
As soon as they start working;
1. New Paint job by Burke's Corvette.
2. Kenwood Nav. new amp and upgrade all speakers (10" sub).
3. Headers and metallic cats.
4. P&P perhaps by SGC.
Maybe my wife will leave me?!...I meant alone...

Me if I got that ultimadum the wife would be gone.
I havent consulted one car purchase with my wife I just bought them since we have been married back in 2002 I have bought 5 ZR-1 2 of them parted out, one Ferrari, and traded one ZR-1 for a 68 427/400 coupe project.
plus three deployments to Iraq so I guess since im alive and well I can buy what I want when I want with my money

Both my daughters are 8 and 10 so I've got a long ways to go to get to where your at brother. The part I worry about is when they start dating. I don't even want to think about it.

Don't mean to snatch the thread but 4 years ago my water pump and radiator was leaking so I figured I would replace the pump and the radiator. After about 6 hours radiator was in place and I was torquing down my water pump bolts. All of a sudden I felt my left side go weak. So I sit on the curb (I live in a condo so the work was being performed at the car wash area) and smoke 2 cigarettes thinking I pulled my muscle. No. I realized I was having a mild heart attack. I thought about calling 911 on my cell phone but that meant deserting the car out in the open w/ a few bolts strewn about with the hood open - NO WAY!
I gathered all my strength and torqued down all bolts, slipped on the accessory drive belt, reconnected accordion and drove the car to my spot in below grade parking and literally crawled to elevator and to my unit.
During 4 days of recuperation I had my leak free ZR-1 to go back to.
And you ask choice between my wife and ZR1?
I am perfectly fine and healthy today.

i was lucky ,my late wife loved the zr1s so much so i bought her the white one 4 weeks before she passed, heck we used to take both zr1s to the dragstrip every chance we had . she had great reaction times on the tree ,even one a couple bracket races .

We all love our wives, I am sure. It's just that some ladies by nature want their spouse to spend every moment with them (often in the mall).

In my case I'll go with the wife. Through the course of our marriage I've had/have many Corvette's and I was allowed to get them all after minimal amounts of begging. To date, she has let me have every Corvette I've wanted...but she did give me a definite "NO!" when I expressed an interest in a Viper...everyone has their limits I suppose.
It's better than the alternative...having a Corvette and then begging some woman to be my wife.
I married my wife back in 1990 - a full 9 years after I purchased by first Corvette - a 64 365. A few years into our marriage SHE encourages me to trade my 64 Corvette for the 67 435HP Corvette I have started think about. Then last year - SHE encouraged me to purchased my 95 Z to go along with the 67.
Hey, there are plenty of cars out there. I'll keep my wife (who also provided two wonderful kids as well).

:thumbsup:Damn right!! I see absolutly nothing wrong with that logic. At the same time, she can do what she want's...I'm not her keeper. If she doesn't like it, I can have another set hanging over the sink tommorow. I always say...the door swings 'Both' ways, if your not happy here .

It's not like your asking her to envite her girlfriend over for a threesome or anything. But she has no problem reminding me that her money helped pay for that ZR-1 to. But when any of the cars breaks down guess who fixes them while she sits on her but and watches American Idol. But I do have twice the buying power being married.

I have a different problem. When I got my Z my wife loved it so much she said "you know those new ZR1s are really nice too, hint, hint". My only response was, you know we are in a bad recession right?

I'm lucky. MJ bought #364 for my birthday in 1998. She didn't get upset when I started racing it, only asked that I get more life insurance. She bailed me out one time when I had too many to drink at a bar and couldn't drive, she got a ride to the bar and drove #364 in full race trim back to the house. She even semi-hammered it on Central Expressway and then looked down at 150 on the speedo and nearly croaked. I won't be trading her anytime soon.
