THIS MIGHT BE A [-X IN SOME FOLKS EYES BUT HAS ANYONE EVER PUT AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN A ZR1? I`VE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEING DONE. IS THE BOLT PATTERN ON BACK OF THE MOTOR SAME AS OTHER CHEVYS? HOW BOUT THE CRANKSHAFT BOLT PATTERN? I WISH MINE HAD ONE. ITS A RED/RED 1990. LAST FOUR NOS. 2161. 108K MILES. NEVER BEEN TOUCHED EXCEPT FOR A NEW STOCK G.M. CHIP. ALSO, WHILE I MAY HAVE SOMEONES ATTENTION, MY RADIO BLOWS A FUSE IMMEDIATELY ON INSTALLATION. HEATER/AC CONTROLS GO OUT ALSO. WHO`S THE BEST ON THESE "LOT TO BE DESIRED" BOSE RADIOS? A FEW YEARS AGO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND HE GAVE ME A 1990 CORVETTE SERVICE MANUAL ST-364-90PSID. I LIVE IN IUKA, MISSISSIPPI AND HAVE NEVER SEEN BUT ONE OTHER ZR1. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLYS.....RICHARD.......

Hi Richard, The bose repair guy is Dr. Don's.com. I believe they are in Texas, but I'm not sure. They can do wonders with the system. Also there is a web site called Factorycarsterorepair.com. They have a decent troubleshooting section & they are very cordial on the phone.

I'm no expert on the tranny swap, too new of an owner. I know people have done that swap. I'll bet Jeffvette knows what's up with that or maybe call Mr. Haibeck or zfdoc.com, Mr Bill Bourdreau? Sorry I'm not much help on the tranny! :o
Good luck,
Tom

On the fuse thing. Do you have the electrical book in your service manual set? I would think that the radio & the A/C must have either a ground or a source(power) ckt in common if both go out together? I have a wiring manual with my Helm set for my 1990 Z. Give me a shout & I'll look it up and see what's up.

I THANK YOU GENTLEMEN VERY MUCH FOR THE REPLIES. I`VE CHECKED AND WILL RECHECK THE SITES YOU GAVE ME. I`LL PROBABLY NEVER CHANGE TRANSMISSIONS BUT WILL VERY SOON HAVE THIS RADIO REPAIRED. HOPEFULLY BETTER THAN NEW. GOING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT GOOD VIBES JUST AINT GONNA GET IT. I CHECK THIS SITE REGULARLY AND LEARN A LOT FROM IT. I THANK YOU AGAIN.......RICHARD TILL.......90ZR1---RED/RED---2161.
