The Corvette club I belong to COCH has done this several times. I've never done it. In fact I havnt been to any club events or Friday night street meets in the last 6 months. It looks like fun though. It's 95% all C5's and C6's. And I'm pretty sure a ZR-1 has never set foot on that destroyer.

That's a cool thing I'd love to do..... I was aboard the Lady a couple times in 1975 and 1976

I have been watching this event for several years now but, I haven't gotten an open weekend yet. I hope I can in the future. It would be quite a thrill to participate!

They were saying that this was the last one due to the lift elavator on the ship. Of course they said that two years ago also.

David I have been to this years ago I know this was an old posting but it's pretty nice the Corpus Vette Club does this yearly if I remember right they use the elevator once used for lifting aircraft to the flight deck and lift around 4 Vette's at a time we spelled out USA-1 with Vette's and in the color of red for U white for S and Blue Vette's for the A it was cool I was parked in the A and next to A-4 Skyhawk jet, it was awesome!!!

My Grandfather was the Flight Deck Officer on the Lex in WWII.
I have been wanting to do this for some time now to honor him. :saluting:

That would be awesome, there is a lot of history on that ship, and it would definitely honor him, especially seeing and being on the same ship he served on. I always thank veterans when I see them wearing the baseball caps with WWII veteran, Korean Veteran, and Vietnam Veteran. they had it so hard, now we must also thank the Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans, But WWII are really special as not too many are still with us.

You Texas folks know more about Vettes on the Lex than I in California.
Is it true that this year's Vettes on the Lex may be the last time the sponsoring Club puts on the event?
