I just purchased a 1991 ZR1, Red with Black Int.- #879. This is my first ZR1 (or corvette for that matter). I had a couple of Trans Ams when I was younger, but I have been a Porsche guy for much of the last decade (i've had three).
When I had my first child a year and a half ago I got rid of my 1999 Porsche Carrera Cab (the responsible new father thing to do, right?). But I have missed having a toy the whole time. So when it came time to buy another one I decided to look for a vette. I went back and forth between a ZR1 and a c5 Z06.
Well my decision was made for me when I came across what seemed like an awesome deal. I found a one owner 1991 ZR1 with 94k (it is a driver, not a collector) and very clean for $13k that had been stored for the last five years.
I was a little worried that something may be wrong to be that price even though the dealer said otherwise, but it drove very well and they had all of the service records from the first oil change on and a clean carfax. Being not-so-mechanically-savvy, I took it over to Guldstrand for a lube, A/C service and the once over and it came back with a clean bill of health. It needs a few minor things, like a shock rebuild and a full cleaning of the rads, but otherwise it is in excellent condition, leaving me with an unbeatable deal.
I am having a blast driving it so far and am thrilled with my decision. Now I look forward to doing some fun mods.

Congrats and welcome to the madness! I thought I'd take a break from my header install, have a cold drink, and check the board.
You done good. You have a very unique piece of Corvette history - a giant killer in it's day, and no slouch even today...especially with a mod or two!
Welcome!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the warm welcome. This site is great and I really look forward to being a part of the brotherhood.
The car is completely stock but for an aftermarket stereo and alarm (the alarm I am going to have pulled out as it is not needed and screws with the electrical).
I am planning to do several mods since it is relatively a high miles car and I am not worried about collector value... I just want to have fun with it.
Thanks,
Peter

I have been trying to join but am having technical difficulties. The site won't work with my Mac at home so I tried from my office. When I accept the user agreement it opens a new window and I get an error downloading the page so I cannot complete the purchase.
Any suggestions outside of doing it by mail?
Thanks,
Peter
Heck of a deal! Don't be afraid to run it to red line OFTEN. Actually keeps it running good and the LT5 will take it.

Contact Dave Bright to see if he has any recommendations what you can do. Dave "Mom" Bright vp@zr1netregistry.com (vp@zr1netregistry.com)
I see no one told you that we require pics, or that this thread is worthless without them? So how about some when you get a chance?
