Heheh, here is my buddy finally getting the "win" light on me yesterday at Mason Dixon:

We ran 3-4 times with me having the power key off, but I kept nudging him out. He finally had it all come together, and nipped me by .03 seconds!

You can hear the announcer point out we'd run 13 times at that point. Except for the heat, it was a perfect day to drag race. Hardly any cars at first, we made four runs right in a row. It was test and tune only, so there were a lot more street cars than normal. It was pretty fun!

Here was my PB of the outing:

In the car I heard the announcer say I'd have my hands full. Didn't know what he meant, but I think that Civic runs on the juice sometimes? He was turboed though.

How about a "Brown Helmet" award for best key off time next week?

were you on street tires???

Yes, street tires. The track there is very sticky, though. I was dropping the clutch at 3,000 rpms and bogging. Or perhaps that's a testament to my car being off? I dunno.

Yeah, 14 runs was awesome. Except for being disappointed with my times, it was otherwise excellent.

I think you'd have to line up against some mid-late 70's 'vettes to want to run that way. You sure wouldn't want to get blown away by some 14 second Corvette, even if you knew it was because you are in "normal" power mode.

Once about halfway, they have the next cars burnout and get ready to stage. They keep things moving pretty quick.

Mods are headers, ported plenum/IH's, and a Corsa.

Oh man, one thing I forgot to mention... When braking from ~115 or so, wow! These brakes are absolutely awful. By about 80mph they were done. Firm pedal, but nothing would happen as you push it. It was a bit scary.

With the key off, hammering them from 90mph was no biggie, felt great.

I think the pads that came with the Baer kit are waxer low-dust crap or something. At least I'm hoping it's just that they are crappy pads. I never had that problem with the stock setup and Hawk pads. So maybe some decent pads up front will change my perception and satisfaction with these bigger calipers?

Yeah the stock breaks and calipers are ok. I don't know what brand rotors are on my Z but they look cross drilled but only about an 1/8" deep. Not all the way through. The exit comes up so fast at the end of the 1/4 mile line at the strip that I'm practically locking up the brakes so I don't go passed it. Tires are barking and squealing. But after 11 runs down the strip they held up and didn't fade on me.

I have Baer 6-piston calipers. I called Baer, they apparently come with ceramic low-dust, low-noise pads. So that explains that. I'll be tossing some HPS's on there, and that should solve it.

I never had that problem at the strip with the stock calipers and HPS pads.
