Well folks, looks like I might be trading the ZR-1 for a 1993 40th Vert. The car has 80k on it and it needs a little TLC but is in overall good shape. The vert is for my wife. I know we can put this together but what kind of monetary difference do you all think I should be looking for to make this a nice deal?

Is the car loaded up with options? Also, it's a ruby anniversary car, or just a "40th" by virtue of being a '93 model?
I'd think a ruby loaded model in similar condition/mileage to your Z, you should expect a couple/few grand out of it. I think you may be at a disadvantage in that Z's are a bit of a tough sell now, and convertibles are always easier to sell.
My two cents.

Hi John,
Not a bad idea, but I might be inclined to go for a C5 as mentioned above. And as far as trade, I'd think 2k to you would a good deal. Nobody has to tell you its a tough time to sell a ZR-1. Good luck and keep us posted.

I agree with the guy's above. Get your wifee a C5 convertable. Make sure it has the power top option. My wifee has one (C5 vert) and loves it. Oh the car is more reliable than a taxi cab. And gets 17mpg around town , 28mpg on the highway , this is with the performance axle also.

trading the ZR-1 you have for sale for the 93 right?
Meaning you will have the 93 and your ZR-1?
if so, that would work for me

.
You want to trade YOUR ZR1 for a plain old '93 'vert to give to your wife.
:jawdrop:
If It were my wife, I'd tell her to find a new hubby who already has a 'vert.
Just sayin'.
Both my sons have asked who would get the ZR1 when I head off to be big drag race in the sky.
I told them they'd have to pry the keys out of my COLD STIFF FINGERS

It's Ruby car. Ground effects and Brand New chrome original wheels. Has the wood trim on interior and as far as I know right now, in pretty nice shape. More to come.

I'm pretty tired of the STUPID offers. Yep, I will still have the 27k mile ZR-1 and the Ruby Vert. I should come away with a few 1k's and a nice ride (especially after after I do my magic on it) for the wife.

If I had sold the ZR-1 (#458) I would be looking at exactly that. This is the best way to get the wife into a nice vert.

I usually run away from cars with aftermarket body add-ons and wood trim kits. Most C4 folks do the same. Just FWIW...

Most of the body kits and wood trim kits on the C4 seem to represent what people dislike about the 80s. Thankfully, the later C4s in unmolested form don't seem to be affected by the 80s stigma too much, but the add-ons really seem to enhance it. Again, all IMO. Buy what makes ya happy :)

I would tend to agree. You're trading a car with good potential for a depreciating asset. Having not personally seen either car, I would say there is a $8k-$10k difference if they are in similar condition. A friend of mine just bought a ruby vert with under 5k miles for $15k from a dealer, and I think the lust is dying. I have a ruby coupe,, and well, once you get past the color and the interior....... Get her what she wants, but I think I'd go up a few years. JMO Good luck either way!

Here is the way I see it. If your wife wants it and you are willing then do it. As for the price difference it does not matter as long as you think its a good deal.
You only get to live life once and if you can make her happy now you will be rewarded now and later. Good Luck.

I still say if it makes him happy to do it..
keep in mind he has 2 ZR-1s, one of which he has been trying for at least 14 months to sell, now he wants out of it and if this works for him then all the better, he will still have a ZR-1 too

John/get her what she wants/it is way cheeper then splitting,or spitting and screaming at each other. After I bought the twin turbo fidanza, she said you have 5 cars and I only drive the tahoe,so I bought her a new jag that she wanted/now she smiles while she works to earn enough for me to buy a new zr1/joe

Thanks for all the comments again guys.
I would rather sell the ZR-1 and get my wife a car she wants, which actually is a Corvette Vert, but a white one. I think once the car is cleaned up to my standards she will love the Ruby color combo. As mentioned, the Z has been for sale for awhile now, and only morons have responded for the most part. So, I see this as a way to kill several birds at the same time. My wife works hard and she deserves a nice car and she puts up with me...AND, I will after all still have a nice low mile Z to play with.
