I'm hoping to make it!
I see it as an opportunity to maybe isolate the P&P modification I've done from the headers/3" exhaust waiting in the wings. Course that means I'll have to wait another 2 weeks before I can put the header etc. on, but curiosity is running high on seeing what my P&P alone is "worth" - a sort of progression, as it were. (Actually, since I'm freshening up the U joints anyway, I'm considering doing the same with the clutch assembly and maybe even a aluminum flywheel, while I have it apart. (When does it ever end? Or, does it ever end?)

If i can get the clutch line replaced on the 90, might be a good day to start the HP Mod test. Only conflict is the Lemans! I wonder if anyone will be showing it? Maybe we can talk the chevy dealer into showing it in there service dept?

Forgot to mention... Don is offering to do a cookout afterwards at his house that is 5 minutes away...
So what more do you need? A car show, show off your Z, a cheap dyno run and free food!
Hope to see as many Z's as possible there!

OK... The show is Sunday and the weather will be perfect and the dyno is cheap!
So who's coming? Don needs to know how many weenies to get.
Jeff and Dom already declined due to other obligations.
That leaves Lee, Pete, Al, Bob, Ken, Paul, new Bob ...who am I missing? For that matter I don't think I've ever actually seen Bryan (WB9MCW) in person, only his posts in the "babes" section. Does he actually own a ZR-1 or just hang out on the web looking for Vette Porn?
How about you lurkers? I know your out there. I actually saw a white ZR-1 in Downtown Chicago Tuesday, looked stock, have never seen it before, anybody want to own up?
Let us know, festivities start at 8:30 am and we will only have 8 or so spots reserved.

Hans I am in.....was hoping to bring the black car, but clutch slave line is not in yet.....might limp it in for the dyno......I put some fresh fluid in and it seems to be working. I guess if it goes at least I won't have to tow it, just push it into the service dept.

Issues with the secondaries...car only ran 276rwhp with the stock...DRM chip hit 303. I need to see what is going on and then redyno......
Hans hit 370rwhp and 370rwtq
KarterDon hit 360rwhp with just a ported plenum and catback....
We also found out Bob HDZ, who has #88 1990 has a federal emissions exemption sticker on his hood...hmmmmmm

We hope you guys had fun!!!
the reason i could not come is because i broke my right collar bone on memorial weekend by a 5 mph fall of my yamaha dirtbike on a trail ride near the house
first time to ever break a bone -- very painful and slow to recover -- but doing much better now
last time i fell on my dirt bike (or off any motorcycle) wan when i was 15.
i have been riding this trail on the same bike since 1991.
just a dumb luck thing -- my knobby tire slid on the grass and i was thrown onto my right shoulder --it was in fact the slowest part of the 2 mile loop out there on the ATV trail right b4 the hill climb i do in 1st gear-- i did a downshift a bit earlier than usual and hit some slick grass and that was all it took to allow the rear tire to slid abt a foot or two and then when it grabbed it shot me off the trail and off the bike-- it was a very fast and i took a bad fall on the right shoulder and snapped the bone --
hard to lift up the bike and ride it home but i did it.
i hope to be able to shift and drive the vette in another few weeks or so

Hans,
Go to the performance page and check out your torque #s vs others....the combo of CATS and resonator must be choking the car....the #s for your car equal that of cars in the 380-400hp range.

That 370rwtq # for Hans looks suspicious to me. Pete has 400.
What does the AFR look like? Anybody want to post a dyno run graph?
Sorry Pete didn't put his on the dyno, then we'd have a benchmark for the dyno that was being used.

Dyno seemed pretty conservative.......I talked to one of the guys at Vals, he said they tend to be alittle on the tough side with the #s.
I think the resonators hurt you, tf95ZR1, said he picked up some decent numbers when he dropped his Borla.

I'm skeptical of the torque number. JMO.

Hans car peaked at 6500RPM, seems alittle low.....might be more of a case of the car being capable of more HP.....30 extra lbft is alot relative to the hp #s......pleanty of people making 380-400hp with 370lbft. Would like to see Hans run a more free exhaust(get earplugs).....the cams Pete is running and the wide variance in cam timing from car to car could be doing it also.

My car dyno'd 385rwhp and 350rwtq. That's one reason why I'm skeptical.
And 30lbft less than Pete is another.
Hans is running the LT-4 resonator, which isn't bad according to Marc H.
Also an Xpipe IIRC.

Look at the performance #s page, almost every car is within 2-5% of the HP rating.....those with cams show a large spread from HP to Torque.
402368Vette Doctors Top End Job, Watson Headers, Desert Development Exhaust, 4.09 gears, Jeal cams.
475411DRM-385ci stroker w/special Rippie Race cams, Geoff Jeal Headers, 4.09, Tri-Flow exhaust.
Even the factory ratig is 375hp and 370TRq at the flywheel.

Then everyones readings on the Performance page must be wrong
Looking at the stockers the rwtq is about 320-330 so its only a 40 ftlb gain at the wheel, I think you are assuming a nearly 20% oss through the drive train.

no he isn't. I thought Hans said the LT-4 Resonator would not fit with the X-pipe so he is running a Magnaflow piece

Had a great time yesterday, great to see the everyone. As for the dyno numbers I'm sure the system I am using is causing the lower hp reading. When Twisted Pipes redid the exhaust late last year we went as follows:
SW headers - magnaflow HF cats - X-pipe -Magnaflow Resonator - Corsa Mufflers.
As far as I'm concerned the car now sounds perfect to me. No resonance, I can carry on a conversation under normal driving conditions and screams nicely at WOT.
The next test will be at the track.
Here's a few pictures from yesterday..

Don't get me wrong Dom, I still plan to do some further tuning. For that matter I would even switch exhausts again if one surfaced that had little to no resonance, is reltively quiet at cruise and flowed better than what I have.
I've been toying with the idaea of using a stock LT4 system behind my cats (according Haibeck the resonator has virtually no restriction) and replaceing the stock mufflers with 3" magnaflows. The LT4 stock system has a crossover built in, unlike the later LT1's and ZR-1's.

there is am article by hib that shares what he did with an lt4 and flowmaster system that made 28 hp over stk .something to consider .
On the Dyno #'s
I would double check them a different dyno, that's what i do 2 different dynos 2-3 different tracks.
Now that i think about it 370 370 seem a bit wierd.
What were Don's #'s?

Don was 360hp and 355tq if I recall
Pete go to the perforamnce page...most cars with that level of mods are similiar....cammed cars have a wider range.
I see that and noticed the early Z's had closer #'s then the later Z's.
I would still double check the #'s.
I think Hans car will make 390-400 without all the exhaust restrictions.
I would bet HP would go up but TQ would remain.

What was the verdict, I was thinking 303hp was too high to be a power key issue. I need to test the system and see.....another friggin plenum pull.....
Maybe 303 is correct.....but I don't think I could hit 12s with 303 like it did.
Although it did produce 390ftlbs of TQ............kidding
