I was looking over the window sticker sheet for my 94 and noticed it has listed a
$100 option for New York Emission System. Anybody kow what this is?

I would venture to say that the $100 was a bogus fee that was tacked onto the price of the car.

I would venture a guess that by that time NYS and CA were leading the parade for tighter emissions standards among the states. Remember that the EPA limits are the upper level of emissions and the states are within their rights to have a lower "ceiling" on emissions, they just couldn't raise the "ceiling".

I know that charge was on my 08 cobalt's sticker. Even as far back as 03-04 when I was trying to decide between buying just a new car or getting a vette, all vehicles destined for sale in NYS had the NYS emissions required option.

The NYS emissions was/is a legitimate sales RPO NG1 and in early years it was a $100 add on. Later years it became a "no charge" option when federal requirements became similar. I'm quite sure that the NYS requirement was that a certain percentage of the manufacturers vehicles made available in the state for sale meet the standards that they adopted which were similar to the California requirements.

I suspect that if the Manufacture could "certify" the emissions of a vehicle they added the RPO to "certify" their compliance. I'm quite sure not all Corvettes in '94 carried the NG1 option. The LT5 with EGR added was quite clean by "current then" standards.

I would guess that a retail order from a NY dealer in any year that required the standard would get the RPO tagged to the build if it was "compliant"! I don't believe there was anything different other than "certified" testing that substantiated the results.

I don't see the "similarity" to the referred "desert package"!!!
