I put DOT 4 in the one I am going to replace, works fine and is the recommended fluid when you order parts

FWIW: Bill B. recommends using Valvoline synthetic DOT 3/4 as clutch fluid.

As Locobob stated and not DOT 5 Bill B told me it ruins the system internally

I use the GM hydraulic fluid for clutch.

Surely Redline makes something that... Oh, right, this is the forum. :) I use the GM stuff as well. From what I've heard the only real difference between it and brake fluid is it has some stuff to keep it from squeaking.

Does the clutch fluid really get worked enough that synthetic is necessary?
