Hey Gang,
I’ve got some fun stuff here for you.
Some of you who attended The Gathering this year know that I was asked to do a seminar on Pirate Racing. Now you know how most seminars are, so I decided to do some video stuff to compliment the narrative. Those who attended the hour long video came up to me and asked for copies etc so I came back here and did the voiceover from the presentation and added a few other extras. This 65 minute video contains edited clips from the Corvette Challenge days including crashes and roll-overs, it them shows never before seen pictures from Rippie’s LeMans adventure in 1995.
It also covers our presentation to Chevrolet which turned into the current c5r-c6r programs. Finally, it tells the story of how Pirate Racing began, the Lime Rock burn-down, and the rebuild. This is a heartwarming story of a group of enthusiasts who began by chatting on the internet and ended up on the podiums of the World Challenge GT Championship.
The Pirates also pioneered the C5 and through their cooperation with GM Powertrain, were able to assist in the introduction of the 2001 Z06 Corvette.
Finally, after a season of encounters by a certain black Porsche, including being hit from behind while in the lead (Vancouver), the Pirates had a chance to get even. At the season finale at Laguna Seca, the Porsche had the pole but the Pirates were right next door. See the exciting end of the season at what one Speedvision spokesman said was the best season in GT history.
This DVD is in NTSC format but I can re-format to PAL for our overseas friends.
I’m asking only for donations for the DVD. My cost on the disk, case, shipper, and US shipping will be around $6-$7.
(My 100 hours of editing gets donated to the cause). If you care to donate anything additional, it is your choice and much appreciated. (Proceeds benefit a local BG charity-Humane Society.)
Payment is best if made to PayPal as I get complete shipping info, address, etc all in one neat package. If you need other arrangements, just email me direct and we’ll work it out.
My PayPal account is: vandornjim@aol.com
Just click send money of if you prefer, I can send you an invoice.
I hope you’ll enjoy this presentation from the good ‘ol exciting days of ZR-1 racing. I know I had a heck of a trip down memory lane doing it.

Just a quick thanks to all of you who have already ordered their copy of the new DVD. There's 77 of you already on the list and most of you were quite gracious with your donations. This will also help offset the costs of additional copies being sent to those less fortunate in these economic times.
We will be sending these out asap, in the next day or two actually, so if you're interested, let us know asap.
Again, much thanks you folks are the best!

Hey Gang,
I just want to thank all of you who have contributed to the cause here. We sent out over 120 dvd's last night and have raised a nice fund for the "beagle's friends" here in BG. You should all be commended.

I'm still waiting for our fearless leader Ron Kreig to fess up!! I think he's biased after the Beagle wet his tires....:-D

ANyway, thanks again guys, the orders are still piling in and we're still printing more. I had no goal for this, just thought some might enjoy an inside look into racing and what is has been. Lots of shinanigans, insider stuff and out and out illegal things. Sounds like fun doesn't it?

Still looking for original Pirate team members including Mike Shaffer and Colleen Egan.

To all of you who have called and have enjoyed the Pirate Racing DVD. Heard from many voices from the past aready. Even Rippie called and finally figured out how to work his DVD player....:-)
Those of you who weren't there say you learned a lot. Those of you who were, well, it brought back some pretty neat memories.
Does anyone remember the boy who broke his leg just before the LimeRock race? I believe his name was Michael. His Dad called me just week before the race and infomred me they couldn't be there because Michael had broken his leg. I told him to come and be ready for one heck of an experience. We called Ernie Aguilar and asked for a crew shirt to be done and he did the impossible. We picked Michael and his dad up with the team's golf cart in the parking lot, transported him every where he needed to go, and then presented him with his new official crew shirt. He stayed off his crutches just long enough for us to snap a picture.
We heard after that he was up on the hill watching and all the Corvette people were coming over asking him where he bought that shirt. Too funny!! Michael's got to be around 18 or so now.
Anyway, thanks again and stay tuned for an announcement on our next video project that's already in the works.:hello:

I was there at Lime Rock for that race and do remember it well.
I also remember being there to take pics right after the flame out. In fact I was on the walk way above the track and had a front row seat when
it flamed.
My memory of that race was how well the ZR1 ran the straight in practice laps. It simply ran away from all other cars on in the straight. It was a moment of pride for sure.
My Maserati friend thought it was funny when the car toasted.
I sure didn't.
Oh well. I was glad to have been able to be a part of the "Pirate Team" effort for a measly half grand.
And the Banquet in Palm Dessert was icing on the cake too.
Great DVD, Thanks Jim.

It was great to see Doug Johnson in this Pirate DVD .

Oh and it was great to see my mug and my son's in there as well at the end credits. :)
Those dry mountains in the background were at the top of some
peak we drove to during the day's festivities at the Banquet in
Palm Desert.

hEY gUYS, glad you liked it, it was a blast but the real fun was all the folks who came to the races wearing their shirts and Pirate Hats. I still can't get over that even some 10 years later there is still a lot of interest. Gee...I wonder.....
