just wondering what is a average cost to port a pair of 92 heads sent in?

You might want to specify if 'You are' disassembling the heads or the shop/porter will be called upon to do so. Just so any 'Hidden' costs don't pop up on you last minute.

What about valve job? You want to have that done at the same time or only if it really needs it? Standard or Tricky valve job...? Multi angle's with radiused Exhaust seat's etc.? Check guides or don't worry about it? Supply & install valve seals on the Int. & Exh.?

Basic porting of cylinder heads amusing no other work is needed other then 3 angle. Minimum price. Just for giggles

I'm surprised at how little response you have gotten on this. Guess the economy down there isn't so bad after all :dontknow:.

Kb, sorry to inject these Q's into your thread.:o

I have some Q's from the back yard/shade tree section....

If you go thru the expense of pulling your LT5 top end(heads included) yourself, why would you not want the full treatment? and exactly what would the full treatment be on a set of LT5 heads? What is the usual "treatment" that you get? Or is there no "usual treatment" vs the "full treatment"?:dontknow:

I mean to do the job yourself you would have to have the knowledge and the special tools so you could put it back together.

Disclaimer: to prove how far behind the curve I am: Last set of heads I had "done" were LT-1/C3 heads in the late '70's. After that Dart came along with "plug & play" iron heads in just about any flavor you could want, I've used them in the sbc "sportsman" flavor. There used to be a laundry list of things that you could have done to a set of heads for street use, the list was obviously all optional and added to your shop bill vs just sending them in for a standard valve job & rebuild. I know this just under scores how behind the curve I am, sorry for the Q's!
