Hello people. Been lurking for a while now. I have a halfway decent 92 that was a fixer, did all the work myself after watching these posts and learning from the archives. Thank you guys.http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/illenema/corvette001.jpg[/IMG]http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/illenema/zr101.jpg[/IMG]

The car needed more then i thought but its all fixed now. Did all work myself with no prior lt5 exper.
What she needed.
1) New Master cylinder. (Brakes would drag as car warmed up.)
2) Work on secondaries. (Replaced a bad Secondary throttle linkage, bad vacuum actuator, some cracked out lines ect.) Secondary's were off line for a long time on this car.
3) Replaced Transmission 2cnd gear synco was bad. (Got a killer deal on a blue tag)
4) Starter was brand new but lug was loose, wouldn't kick over
5) I think the front Leaf spring is a bit weak, so I lowered the back a small bit and got a fresh alignment. Wow what a difference.
6) Repaired the Fx-3 system with new gears. Works well now.
The owner before me was a Lease manager at a chevy dealership and this car he picked up from a customer. He did the following in the spring before he sold it to me. Complete Gasket Set, oil pan, injector housings, plenum. While they gad the oil pan off they found wear on the bearings, replaced lower bearings. A bunch of other stuff also was done I have the receipts for the parts totaled about 4K. He had the work done at the dealership.

The First drive in this car for me was horrible as No secondary operation, Starter wasn't kicking in , no fx3, running hot then the brakes were dragging real bad. The guy i bought it from would ^%$# if he stepped on the throttle now.=D>

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the NetRegistry. For the money, there is nothing like a ZR-1; but now you already know this!

Welcome to the forum. Now that you have your feet "wet" with the things you already have done it's time to think 'MODS"

Welcome!

Always good to have another Z in the neighborhood. Where abouts are you? What color combo you have?

Cheers,
Ron

I have a fidanza flywheel ready to go in. Car has relocated Map sensor, borlas w straights, chip, fan speed at 190.
Id like to freshen the engine up with new liners/pistons/rods/crank. Then worry about porting:)

Well as an update, I put in the Fidanza (replaced rear seal on trans also) ect. Was a breeze with Air Tools, A little grumble when engine is dead cold but shuts right up. Engine likes the light weight, used stock clutch (was just changed). Used Longer grade 8 bolts. Nice 300$ upgrade. ( including 10w60 castrol ect)

Welcome to the forum & ZR-1 family!

Watch out for RHanselman there in Vegas. He will be twisting your arm to rebuild the engine with 8:1 compression & putting the Raptor Twin Turbo system on it. Might as well if you're going into the engine.....drives like a stocker.......until......you put light the burners! Check his out.

FWIW, I read your post about the former owner replacing the main bearings while the pan was off. The engine has to be completely disassembled to replace the mains in an LT5. Maybe he replaced the rod bearings. That you can do with just the pan off.

Glad to have ya in the group!

Yes I know about the twin turbo and have contacted Hanselman Good guy. Engine on this car is fine. Just had it out today was going somewhat sideways in first...
No they discovered wear in the bearings when they dropped the oil pan, then went on to replace. $822 for bearings (parts) at Gates Chevy World. The car was well known to the techs there I was told. I can tell the engine was pulled when I get under her.
Love the Cars looks and ride!

Ya I just got off the phone with the previous owner, the techs said it would be faster just to pull the engine for a complete seal set. Then they saw the wear on the bearings and replaced them as well. As well as clutch set ect.
Having all that broke loose once will help on the header install
