I don't really like the blingy Corsa tips, especially with the '90 body style. Shiny stuff seems out of place to me with the flat black beltline and whatnot.
So I painted my tips a flat gunmetal color. It's really that temporary bra stuff, so it will wash off with water. But I wanted to see how it looked. Here's how it turned out:

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/1865/blacktips2.jpg (http://img522.imageshack.us/my.php?image=blacktips2.jpg)
So far, I have to say I like it a lot. If I did it for real, I'd paint the face of the muffler cans. I did paint the bottom part of the face, but couldn't easily do the whole thing with the mufflers in place.
I'd rather not do the whole can and the pipes. The pipes should dull up a bit over time. The factory pipes were just raw finished also, though not nearly as shiny.
Thoughts?

To be honest, I do like the chrome tips better. However for those that want a different look I think the brushed stainless or black chrome would be a nice option. If the Corsa folks were smart they would make the tips removeable and interchangeable.
Just my 2 cents.

Minority opinion, I like the black as it looks like the stealth OEM stuff. Too bad the tip shape from Corsa isn't like the OE tips, as I think it would look "just right" that way. JMHO.:o
It's a shame to "black out" all that expensive s/s, if the metal was more like the OE stuff I would have no misgivings about blacking that stuff out.
Just thought of something else. I associate the oval/roundish style tips with the newer 5's & 6's instead of a C4. Sort of matching/or continuing the over all theme of the body?

Sorry Bob, I don't think the Johnny Cash look Cosa tips would look that good on the later all red Zs.

Bob...Oh here you go and have to start this ;)..now my brain is back in gear with the exhaust 'do I do this' or 'do I do that' or 'do I do something in between' :dontknow:
OK...for another variant... can the OEM 90 black tips be welded to the Corsa cans and then the whole package (can and tips) be painted or powder coated. I know I am (like Bob) in the minority (like 3 to 1 at this point of the poll) of liking the OEM black look over the shiney Corsa look (understand I do like the Corsa systems and have one this fellow>>

it's just that I like to keep the OEM LOOK but not the OEM restrictions in the exhaust.

I like the black. But I have a black car say no more. Tag is one of the best I have seen.

I want to do a full exhaust on my 94, but I want to keep the stock square tips...has anyone done that on here?

I don't think they would work directly, the OEM tips angle down and then back, the Corsa's go straight back. I'd also guess the tip spacing would be off due to the outlet spacing on the Corsa's.
I'm sure it could be fabricated, but I'm done paying for stuff like that after the last go-round. Plus my stock tips went in the trash along with that whole setup.
Painting the Corsa's black though is cheap/free. And it could always be undone, though with a bit of effort, if I were to take the system off and sell it.

Yes, before the Corsa I had the stock pipes, an LT4 resonator, and 3" Dynomax Ultraflow cans with the stock tips. It looked stock and sounded awesome. But the resonance was killer with headers.
I had to go with the Dynomax mufflers because they had the right outlet spacing. Magnaflows were too narrow. Some Flowmasters seemed to be the right dimension, but I wanted straight-through mufflers. I dunno if going to 2.5" mufflers would have helped with the resonance. I was done experimenting though, and went to the sure-thing Corsa's.
Edit: Oh, you have a '94. I assume you mean the rectangle tip. Since you'd use a central-exit muffler, you have a ton of selection of mufflers to choose from. There is no outlet spacing issue since there is only one central outlet.

When I get back to work Im going to put a complete system on my car, stainless headers all the way back, the only problem is finding a place to stash the stock exhaust.I never really cared for the polished mufflers on the aftermarket systems, this hug shinny can behind the tire.If I go with a system Ill have the mufflers powdered coated black and the stock 91 tips modified for the aftermarket muffler. Not too many people think about it but the tips were also a ZR-1 item on the 90-91s.

I like the black myself. They would look good with my black powder-coated wheels.

Regular silver finished 5-spokes. I've thought painting them black would look good, but I really don't want to deal with the hassle.
I think a flatter black/gunmetal on the exhaust would go better with the flat black beltline and license plate surround. Shiny black I don't think would look as good, though still probably better than shiny stainless.

I'll probably swing by Chik-Fil-A tomorrow for a short while if any of you want to see it in person. I have to re-"paint" them because the emissions test guy scuffed it off a fair bit. The stuff comes off very easily though since it's not actual paint.
I really like it. I'm about 90% certain I'm going to paint the system. I'd likely paint the pipes too.

Bob,
About what time will you be by Chik-Fil-A?
Weather looks great this afternoon so if I can get work wrapped up early I'll slip over for a bit before dinner.

Hey Phil, I work right near there, so I usually head out after work. I'll probably be there around 6ish. I don't tend to stay too long though, I'm not a huge show fan.
