Rear wheel bearing

My car has developed the infamouse wheel bearing clicking noise. I replaced the shoudered washer but the noise has not gone away. So, I was going to order tapered rear wheel bearing. As you know, these things are not cheap. Do you think replacing only the driver side rear would be problematic? I know, the right thing to do is to replace both sides but I am trying to saev a few bucks.

Just a thought..... You have 100,000 miles + on OEM wheel bearings. The tapered wheel bearing are great and will carry greater lateral forces associated with road course & autocross racing. If you're not doing any of that to excess, why spend the bucks for the super-duper bearing if you can get 100,000 miles out of an OEM replacement?

From what I hear the tappered roller bearings you can get these days are a mixed bag. Probably better for serious track use than for regular street driving. If it were me for about the same coin for one tappered roller I'd go for a pair of NOS OEM bearings from Corvette Recycling and call it a day. You can get these for $99 ea. until April 15 by using coupon code RH.

Set I have is the second set installed at around 65,000 miles. I don't do any track driving. However, what I want to avoid is sub-standard bearings. If it's NOS OEM, $99 is a bargain.

Also, if I remember correctly, original spec. called for 160 lbs-ft torque for installing the king nut (you know which nut I am talking about). A thread on another forum some time ago claimed GM revised the spec to 190 lbs-ft for manual C4s including ZR-1s. Can someone confirm this? I was wondering if insufficient torque may have been the culprit for this clicking.

I can confirm these are the real deal OEM bearings.
I use these when I repaired the axle spindle I busted on my one and so far only launch at the drag strip last fall. I also torqued the main spindle nut to 190 lbs-ft as you have mentioned.
