I looked at a 1990 ZR-1 today with the possibility of purchasing it. The only thing I noticed was a small amount of oil type condesation above the cam covers on the side under the intake manifold. Could this be just from a poor seal around the cam cover on top or is this a tell tale sign of other issues. The car has 47000 miles on it and is at Corvette Mikes Midwest in Illinois so any other info on this car would help if possible. The car is in great shape outside and inside with original wheels, two tops and all paperwork/manuals/owner history. It has a replacement standard windshield but other than that and the tires it remains completely stock.

Very normal... the breather box bolts under the plenum and the injector housing bolts tend to loosen over time. The Lt5 creates so much crankcase pressure it tends to blow oil out in these areas. Mine was actually sucking oil from the oil gallies into the intake ports at the injector housing head mating surface. The 90's also tend to blow oil past the valve guides as there is no valve stem seal used that year.
Elgin huh... you know... we have a very active (but informal) ZR-1 group here in Northern Illinois. Hang out here on the forum and you'll see when we get together. A good group. Join us if you have a chance.

That is just another push for me to go with the ZR-1. It seems like you guys have some fun. Now to get the wife some diamonds to soften her up. The quest for my LT-5 continues. I was also at D&M Corvette in Downers Grove today and they had a low mileage one of one 1990 black ZR-1 with BLUE interior. It looked pretty sweet actually. I wasn't about to ask the price of that one. They are pretty steep on price but carry some nice cars.

We should be getting together in the next few weeks. Several of us have our cars apart for variuos reason (mostly to improve performance, or so we think) most should be done next weekend. So a gathering is near.
Have you seen this one on e-bay?

While you're looking at dealers you shoulkd also check out the For Sale section on the Registry. I bought my 1990 from a Registry member. Very honest description, no surprises and this is where the best of the best are.
