When you say top end is ported you mean the heads are ported also!? If so.......I'd say 415rwhp!!!

I'm gonna say 390-400 rwhp, if the heads are not also ported; 425± rwhp if they are also ported. Guess we'll find out tomorrow. See ya then!

Ah! Good catch (on the flywheel factor). But, someday we-ins iz gonna need a thread to kick 'round that so oft spoken of flywheel power differential (as seen on a dyno:rolleyes:). I recon it will go along the lines of energy to spool it (the flywheel) up to speed in a dyno setting vs. reality of the road/track.;)

Then I'd say 432whp.

With Mark constantly making incremental improvements and with the fidanza flywheel, I’d say 435; maybe 1 or 2 more.

I believe it can be factored out with eddy-current type dynomometers where the acceleration rate can be controlled. On a dynojet, you are rolling a big drum of known weight. The faster you can accelerate it, the more wheel torque you are making. Presumably the inertial weight of the flywheel is not trivial when compared to the weight of the drum, thus you can see it make a difference. Presumably if the drum weighed, say, a million pounds, you would not see much of a difference.
On the road, I don't know how you'd exactly quantify the difference. I guess you'd need to compute up everything like the wheels/tires, driveshafts, weight of the car, etc. I think it's safe to say that as you upshift, it would make less and less of a difference, as the rate of acceleration would be less and less, thus the flywheels resistance to it would matter less and less.
Personally I think it would have to make a crapload of power for me to put up with one. I've driven Ron's car with one, and man is that sucker noisey when stopped! Of course it accelerated like crazy compared to mine, but I suspect that's the 390ci more than the flywheel.
I tend to think of the Z as more of a GT car. It's a bit heavy and softly sprung, with tall gears and tons of top end. The rattly interior belies that a bit, but it can be a pretty enjoyable everyday and cruising car that also happens to be wicked fast. I kind of prefer it that way.
Keith, you'll have to let us know how you like the flywheel. I've no doubt you will like the extra horsepower from the 500 package, so no need to tell us about that... :)

Oh, I've another question. Did you get new headers? I seem to recall you used to have the smaller primary tubed Watsons. Did you change them to 2" ones? Or did you leave them? Or is my recollection wrong?
Also, make with the number! :)

Mark and i are very happy with the results. He explained that leaving the cats on the car would take away around 6 horsepower.
the car dyno'd 499 to the crank, 424 rwhp.
the removal of the old stock engine paint and the polishing, makes the engine look like a diamond in a jewel box.
car pulls all the way through the power band.
Mark explained, a new porting technique allowed him to acquire approx.
8 more ponies than he expected.
