Hi to all

l may have an upcoming problem with registering my Zedz in UK...lve been drivng them on US plates for some time and had no probs so far as lm sure our cops think lm some euro foreigner and dont want the agg stoppin me.....anyway

lm thinking of going legit (completely against my principles)and registering the cars in the UK.....

but have been reading in my UK vette club site that the mindless beuracrats passing for responsible people in control of issuing registration plates seem to make a great deal out of proof of the cars year of manufacture......

they have no concept of VIN numbers

I dont have the previous owners pinks either

ive got the window sheet for the 90 but dont think l have for the 92

Is it posible to get a GM proof of date for manufacture cert/letter/whatever.....for my cars

my vins are

Red 90 .....1g1yz23j6L5800231

Yellow 92 ....1g1yz23j7n5800404.....(and anyone who can tell me anything about history of the 92 especially previous owners (apart from Kurt of WRP who l bought it from) gets a drink :drunken_s)

I don't know if this will satisfy the law in England, but you can buy a copy of the "build sheet" at the NCM. You don't have to be a member to make the purchase.

you can also buy the window sticker from the MCM too, if needed

Or you can tell the mindless bureaucrats to get their lazy azzes and get under your cars and look at the build sheets glued to the gas tanks. :-D Most unhelpful suggestion just hoping it makes you laugh a bit. Your 90 ZR..betcha a October, 1989 build date. Oh...when you get the build sheet from NCM looked at top middle of the sheet and you will see
DATE: 89/xxx and in my case my 90 #566 is DATE: 89/297 which means 1989 297th calendar day... so what ever you number is just count from January 1, 1989 and that is your build date.
This is what a build sheet looks like:

Is the door jamb label still in place on your cars? You know the one that has the VIN and tire size/pressure data? That sticker has the build month/year printed on it. After all these years the sticker on my '91 is a bit faded but still readily legible. My 1986 model Chevy pickup has a label on the door too and its still (barely)legible.

Best of luck dealing with the pencil-pushers.

Actually, the door jamb sticker date does not relate to the build date...not saying he could not use that sticker but they are different. Example...my 90 ZR build date (as per the build sheet) is 10/89 and the door jamb sticker is 11/89... I image someone can explain the diff
