I am a recently new owner of a 90 ZR-1. I am getting it ready for this summer. Does anyone have any info on oil or filter to use? I use Mobil 1, 5W-30 in all of my other vehicles. The previous owner had a NAPA oil filter on it.
Also should I change the plugs and wires? Is there anything else I need to check or change before I take it out on the road. I should mention the last owner had the ZR-1 for five years and never drove it. It has 59,000 miles. Thanks.

Welcome , don't be shy to ask on here. BTW, I'm not sure why you'd want a Red ZR-1 though :p

I was thinking AmsOil. Used it in a Suburban. Started at 10,000 miles. Needed to change head gaskets at 130,000 miles. Mechanic could not believe how clean things were. What about NAPA oil filter?
Flyn Ryan, I should be asking you that question!

Bosch 3401 Mark H highly recomends them , I use them have had no problems. They are black just like the originals were, peel the lable of and they look great.

I bought the Signature Series from AMSOIL 0W-30. The website said it was the recommended oil for the LT 5. I will look for the Bosch oil filter right now I do have the NAPA Gold 1324. Thanks for the help.:worship:

I've been using the NAPA filter and Mobil1 oil. At the next chage I'm going to try the Bosch filter and switch to AMSOil as recommended by Marc Haibeck.

The bosch filter has the best check valve in it and keeps most all of the oil in it. This helps to protect the right side cam chain tensioner, because oil presure is there already. Other filters the check valve does not work very well and all your oil drains down. This may not seem like a big deal but over a thousand or so starts those seconds of dry parts start taking a toll.

I took the NAPA filter off. there was oil still trapped inside. I let it sit upside down and very little oil came out. So the check valve does work in that fliter. I put a NAPA filter back on.
