Anyone try Valvoline off road racing oil, not VR-1, but the one for racing....they make a 10-30W in conventional oil at $5 per quart and synthetic at $8 per......more zinc. With as little as I run my car and changing 2X per year, could be an option. Although will these kill the cats?

0.02 cents from me, I do believe the issue with the ZDDP is the life span of the cats, no? Like it used to be a 50k mile warr, and now the EPA wants a 100K mile warr. I think I read that in one of the links posted recently. I'm not sure but the only thing that the ZDDP does to the cat is render the chemical reaction a no go if the ZDDP level goes beyond a set concentration point on the catalyist's grid. There maybe an issue with clogging the grid also?:dontknow:

Redline now has ZDPP Addative for $12.99, treating 12qts....will probably use this as I just put M1 in both cars and then go to Amsoil.
Since we don't have emissions in IL anymore and no need for CATS.
I will start using Amsoil and ZDDP Additive.

Howdy, I understand your name is also..Lee. Just a FYI note, I had a conversation with a Valvoline tech today concerning the Valvoline “Not Street Legal†stuff while sorting out my own decisions concerning the ZDDP delimea created from the emission Nazi's. He informed me it was high in zinc & phosphorus, but the detergent add pack was only good for about 500 miles!
He also informed me the VR-1 is probably the better choice now. IIRC it was around the old norm of 1200 ppm and they were working on having a new synthetic out soon with good ZDDP levels in the VR-1 flavor.
Their SYN Power synthetic has only around 835? ppm ZDDP, but supposedly is engineered to keep what it does have in a a healthy state or just in the engine instead of through the exhaust if I understood him correctly.
