they will be pressure fit.. With the Coilover 'hats' I have this fits inside to make it work on our shocks. FX3 for Sure, Not sure about the regular though
I think Carter liked the fact that I sent him the Autocad file too:-D

Hi everybody :hello:
I have been bugging Jeff for pics as I really had no idea what he was doing except for the Cad drawing he sent me. He knows now how much I dislike mm and love .xxx dimensions.
Guess my college courses were good for something as I had to convert all his mm's to .xxx's. I stayed within .001 of all his measurements and if you look close there are many steps to making these "simple" looking items.
Looks like all turned out good from what I can tell. Jeff, it was a pleasure helping you on your project :handshak:
Ricky, thanks always for the kind words. Are you still sending me the items you want done?
GC, thanks you for your patience on your item. I really have not forgotten
Thanks guys for all your support, Carter *CT Machining*

Yes, as soon as I get the OK from the cars owner. I think he is low on cash right now but doesn't want to admitt it. I'll be touchin base with you soon on another idea for my car.

Jeff,
Can you post the details on the coilover set up? Where did you get the parts and how much were they? What are the part #'s?
Carter,
Can you make another set of those adapter pieces and for how much?
I'm thinking this may be my next project. I already have a spare set of shocks I can have rebuilt and grooved.
Thanks guys.

and 10" coil springs
44410-425 10" Hypercoil coilover spring $59.99ea (I used 425#) front

Sweet did you have to notch the shocks or mod the supension in anyway?

Jeff,
Do you notice any difference in ride/control?
Did you retain the FX3?

yes shocks got grooved for the snap rings for the coilover sleeve
otherwise the mods need are required for any coilover set-up
move swap bar, bend tower a bit, etc

Jeff,
Do you notice any difference in ride/control?
Yes, much more controlable over rough roads, car did not dart like it did before
Did you retain the FX3?
Yes, front shocks are the new pair that was on eBay for $150.. I had those grooved for the shocks
I need too get good pictures but the front is lowered 1.5" and the rear (still has the fiberglass spring) is lowered 1.25"

One major concern I have over supension mod is that, based on what I understand, changes in spring rate and/or roll bar can result in under steer/over steer characteristic.
Will you be testing and tweaking?

probably tweaking, I need to finish my poly bushing install and get the car aligned.. then I will see how well it does

how is the ride in comparison to before
I went with 400 front, and 275 back and the ride is OK, but I think the F1 supercars are the "problem"
biggest thing I ran into is lowering the car too much. not good. I think I was bottoming out the shocks as I busted a fx3 controller
I'd like to someday upgrade to a better shock and maybe lose the fx3.
more hassle than it's worth to me.
nice setup!! that's a great way to go as coil overs are expensive and you really engineered a bargain conversion
FYI, DRM grooves the shocks pretty reasonable for the snap ring. a local machine shop quoted me 200 and DRM was 15 per shock as I remember (call randy)
as for tuning, it's hard to "out engineer" the Gm engineers and the stock suspension is actually a pretty good compromize for street driving, but the coil overs definely help
there is a bit of hassle getting them on there and setup, and because I'm so lazy I wouldn't have done it again knowing what I do now, but I mostly didn't like the expense and the harsh ride. there is no doubt the car is "glued down" better and much more stable at speed around corners.
my c5 has coil overs, but rides like a cadillac in comparison
alot of that is the EMTs though, when I bolt on my "race tires" with the a molds, ride is much better.

Ron,
How low did you go? I have not noticed if it bottoms out, but the stance it very close to what my 89 was.. it seems much better.. as for the ride, I have not driven enough to say how it really is.. I have one more component to swap, then get an alignment.. Not sure i will get the new parts on this weekend but I am hoping to
