A great article on C4 shocks and Selective Ride Control by Hib Halverson:

Excellent read... now to a very basic question>>> the position of the gear (spline) at the top of the shock should be full counter clock wise or full clock wise prior to installing the actuator>>

Doesn't matter. When the key is turned to the "run" position the actuators find the end stops and set the shock in the correct position based upon the selector switch.

I know I eventually want to get revalved Moraca shocks...but has anyone here added the Z07 springs to a ZR1 with the moraca valving? I wonder how firm that would get. I've ridden in a stock 96 Z51 Grandsport, and I liked its ride, but as you know the Z51 GS does not have the FX3 shocks.

Also the GS Z51 has softer springs then a 1990-1991 ZR-1 and relatively the same for 92 to 95.

I would suggest for a harder ride, do the shocks first, then springs..

1990-91 Front Spring: 96.2 N/mm and Rear 39.9 N/mm

1992-95 Front Spring: 75.4 N/mm and Rear 33.0 N/mm

GS Z51 Front Spring: 73.2 N/mm and Rear 33.0 N/mm

Z07 Front Spring 115.5 N/mm and Rear 57.2 N/mm

Although you could also just switch to coilovers with stiff springs

the OEM spring rates I got from here:
