Hi Ralph,

Thnx for the heads up

Besides the new one above do you know what other one is missing from our chart that you have on yours?

Bryan,

My list includes #109, but the entry has no colors associated with it, so it may be bogus. I don't know where it came from. The only other info with the vin is an email address:

ReedB14@aol.com

I'll shoot a message to that address and see where it leads.

Cheers,

Ralph

The question mark on the #117 line was not intended to question the interior color, but to note that I didn't write down the date I saw the car on eBay. I cut and pasted the lines from Excel and the alignment got screwed up. Sorry for the confusion.

Check out the Vin decoder post by LGAFF. What follows is what I posted on that thread.
------------------
I ran all the color combinations for 1992. The exterior color code totals match exactly to existing counts. Then I totaled each of the exterior/interior color combinations and they total up to the corresponding exterior color code count. So, all you '92 owner's who have been wondering, we now can tabulate exact counts for each interior/exterior color count.

The page I used is: http://www.compnine.com/rpocheck.php

Then I drilled down to 1992 corvette 2-doors and search for the appropriate codes. For example, for zr1,41u,143 gave me the count of black/gray zr-1's (1 of 18).

Thanks for the link. It's a neat tool. :notworthy

Mystery Solved I think!!!

See >> http://www.corvette-web-central.com/C4production.html

MY 90-92 were 35 for Yellow

MY 93-95 were 53U for Comp. Yellow

Who ever made that master chart did not have this detail noted.

The next time I add 5 more to the Chart we will fix the 53U to a 35U since that is correct for MY92.

As far as the nice new charts they do not list the actual paint codes.

So what I think I will do is just remove the old charts since they are JPEG's and not so easy to fix and are redundant anyway.

What do you guys think?

As I went through the data for all of the ZR-1's, I found that GM used Paint Codes (xxU) to refer to different colors in different years and possibly different RPO's to specify the same color in different years.

The yellow cars are an example of this. In 1990 and 1993-1995 RPO 53U is Competion Yellow. In 1991-1992, 35U is competition Yellow.

RPO 68U in GM Description is Brilliant Red Met. But to the ZR-1, 68U is Dark Red in 1990 and Ruby Red in 1993. In 1991-1995, Dark Red is 75U.

There are other examples of this. Some of the problems come from the Marketing folks calling the colors by different names than the exterior paint RPO code descriptions.

The only color that actually changed was the Polo Green which was a 1990-1991 color (RPO 91U) and Polo Green II (RPO 45U) used in 1992-1995. Apparently there were QA problems with the early green color paint.

OK well that works for me Jim.

Thanks for the explanation on what you found out about it all.

On our master chart we dropped the U from the code and just went with the # and took the time to label the color with each row so it was easy to understand. It made the chart wider but makes it easier to understand and no use of a color chart needed now!

A lot like you did by just listing the color and not the code.

I seen the car about 3 years ago now & I did look at the VIN at the time but never stored it in the ol' memory bank, LOL. I thought I was remembering it was 498...I do remember it was very late for sure though. Talked to the guy yesterday & asked him specifically, for you guys, the VIN info. Said 492 out of 502, he did know the '502' part, he said 105K, so not sure if he meant 105 thousand miles or 105 thousand Kilometers? :icon_scra No matter...

Big Gun you want to take on a chart for all of the 3,049 Model Year 1990 ZR-1's ???

It does no good to just post your own and expect others to follow -- one has to agree to be the collector and start a thread on that specific year on the forum and then collaborate with all the other 90 ZR-1 owners like we have done for 92 here.

Even with all of that and only 502 to chase down for our chart here we are only at 184 of 502 now and we have been at it since Jan 2009.

I will more than happy to create the 3,049 chart for you if this is really what you want to take on.

Just let me know!

I can even host the master chart for you on my website page. and every now and then when you have a bunch of new additions we will swap out the chart for the latest updated one.

I do that with the 92 chart for about every 5 new additions or so.

Well I knew about the nice charts that Jim had made up like this one below that he sent to me.

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p110/HAMMERHATE/92COLOR-INTERIORCHART.jpg

But I did not know that it came from a master list that had all the VIN's and the Top's as well.

We boyz I think I am going to call this project to a halt at this point since it is rather mute except for the exceptions that may be found like Flyin Ryan did on the GREEN vs YELLOW debate on VIN # 492.

And really exceptions should just let Jim Voter (QB93Z << Forum Name) know and he can make a note in his section in the Members only section.

Jim we never realized your charts were so extensive and complete in the members section and for all the model years to boot. KUDO's to you for that nice find and posting. :worship:

Unless I am missing something here as to why to even bother to keep this thread active and the chart going we will call it a day soon and have Z-factor shut 'er down.

Thanks Robertr for bringing this to my attention for I would have no doubt continued on recording data that is already now known.

Well it was fun while it lasted!

Bryan,

FYI, that '92 count sheet contained a couple of errors which I discovered when comparing it to one I had poster earlier on this thread (#41, 1/12/2010). I notified Jim about the differences and I believe he corrected his counts.

Thanks for all your hard work with this thread.

Sure Ralph we had fun with it but it makes sense to have Jim keep the one master list in the members section as the official list plus it is a complete list.

We would have been working on this for years and most likely never actually finished it so the find Jim had from the company website is a real jewel since they are complete and he can fix any entries easy on his posted charts for all the ZR-1 model years.

I own 1992 #497 now. Where can I find the database to see which cars are registered?

Welcome, your in the right place. Probably the only place for that and most all information regarding C4 ZR-1’s. Anything and everything about your car can be found here or can be answered by one of our members. Become a member of the Registry (via the site below) and you will have access to the full database of all known ZR-1’s produced, amongst other things.
