Here is the interesting find... near the vacuum canister for the secondary throttle actuators I find what appears to me as the intitials of the engine builder and build date for the engine engraved (free hand) into the aluminum crankcase vent cover

Nice to know the actual build date but might not ever find out who the builder was :dontknow:

I missed you guys... had everything ready and was so looking to the gathering. I called Dave J and explained my absence...unexpected but family obligations first. Regardless looks like all went great and looking forward to more commentary and pics  Really missed being there

MY 90 #566 delivered 11/20/89 to Mahler Chev in St. Pete FLA
Does anyone know how to read the build sheet date codes either 'Sched. No. Date or the Date & Time at the top middle??
The 54557 reads like a Job Sequence Number :dontknow:

I was reading through Heart of the Beast... AGAIN...it is addictive . There is a section in the book about the assembly of the LT5 at Mer-Cruiser and in one picture shows a fellow assembling an engine and his name is Bill Kepple.. is this his initials 'BK' engraved into the engine??? Fun to think it is....
Also, page 72 of The Beast... noted they were cranking out 20 LT5s per day at production peak...would be an interesting matrix to keep track of engines that have build dates engraved (do all have this or was it random?) and what chassis number those engines was installed.
