Man, ZR-1 parts seem to be going through the roof these days.

ZR-1 tire bag for $100+. I remember buying mine for $20 just a few years ago.

The other items by this seller also sold through the roof.

Makes you wonder what these parts will be 10 years from now.

Indeed it would appear some parts are very well sought after. I see you paid $650.00 for the NIB housing, that was top money for that part. Jim has some very nice parts indeed, i wonder why he doesn't come on here and sell them to us direct rather than pay the fees to ebay.

I would much rather sell parts direct than go through ebay and pass the savings on. As an example, to sell a $100.00 part on ebay now cost us $15.00 in fees & commission alone.

That used ECU went for nearly $400.00, that's USED, pretty amazing that this could fail the day you install it and then you have another $400.00 to exchange it for a rebuilt unit.

Sad to say that early model ZR-1's are worth more parted out than complete, esp. the 1990 models.

:icon_scra I agree in part to you're statement, albeit the part about the 1990 model.... i have an early numbered car #0074
IMHO, No one can predict, 20 years in the future, which year
will be the "collector's" golden child. is a early numbered low mileage 1990
worth more than, say a 1992 ?? In the future??
Time will tell :dontknow:

The spark plug wires that were sold for $456.00 did not belong to me nor is that my Ebay username.

My Purchases:
Ebay NEW NIB thermostat housing $655.00
Ebay New Air Duct $54.00

Your Website:
USED Thermostat housing $878.14
New Air Duct $148.51

You are charging $223.14 more then I paid. My part is NEW and your part is USED with 16,000 miles on it? How did I pay top dollar?

To date, I've only sold one ZR-1 specific car part and it wasn't on Ebay.

It was a 1991 ZR-1 power switch and keys. Jeff referred Sgreg to me because he had been looking for a switch for a very long time. I wasn't even looking to sell it but Sgreg really needed it.
I sold it to him for a fair price and even threw in the keys as part of the deal. Just as an FYI, In the future I will be selling parts to members and/or on Ebay.

I believe you owe me an apology.

One of the answers to parts needs is selling more to each other. I frequently buy parts from members and not on ebay. In fact, I bought a new valet switch from xlr8nFlorida. I trust our members who are knowledgeable and have never failed to be paid by anyone on this forum. The only reason I ever sell or buy on Ebay is due to lack of interest by anyone here in what I am selling or looking for. I am not a vendor but I love parts and am a bit of a parts whore. Don't mind admitting such. The future availablility of parts is in our hands. I would bet we all have some stored. Seems we need to get over the idea that all parts are too much money. GM was too much money. Funny how people will sometimes pay more on Ebay for the same item they could buy on this forum. JMHO, but there is too much worry about price on really hard to find parts. I am not wealthy. I feel your pain but let's not shoot those who want to ofter their stuff to buy. Otherwise, we will be using duct tape a lot more !

How did I overpay??

Limey didnt say you overpaid. He said you paid Top dollar for the TH which is a true statement.

However as to limeys coment on offering up items for sale here first, I completely dont understand as Ebay is most of Limey's business. (Am I wrong?)

I think its hard to put a value on some items which is why Mr van dorn when the route he went. Hey free country

Funny how people will sometimes pay more on Ebay for the same item they could buy on this forum.

Have to agree on this - noticed it a lot. Also noticed that a lot of people will pay more than they can buy things new from Ecklers/Corvette Central etc. :dontknow:

Bingo,

That was my point along, I think it would be beneficial to the whole if Jim came on her 1st to sell his LT5 parts. As an FYI, the reason you paid as much as $645.00 for that NIB housing was because you outbid me, that's fine & i have no gripes with you outbidding me, but lets be real. It's crazy YOU or anyone else paying top money because you are bidding against myself or others on this forum.

IIRC, you purchased those oil lines from Jim for nearly $500.00 a few months back, great for Jim, but as we all know that's top money for oil cooler lines, i think if people have some NOS items for sale, post to the registry 1st and avoid the fees and such to ebay.

Ebay fees are well out of hand now @ 15% & close to 20% if they pay by paypal. Myself, i prefer to give that 15% discount to someone here rather than ebay.

Ok, Let's all now agree I paid Top dollar.

Limey charges $200+ more on his website for a used one?

What do you call that?

I've had these LT5 wires ready to pop and 100% identical to GM OEM for the past 3 years. The problem is GM Licensing, they will NOT approve it! Until they approve the use of the LT5 Corvette name, nobody in any right state of mind will manufacture them.
Their reason for not approving, they say that because you can still buy plug wires from them, they do not want to approve re-mans. When the 628D is discontinued, they MAY approve, until then count on $500.00 per set for LT5 wires.

One word.. Desperate. If you need it. In other words your thermostat housing just blew up and your a dailly driver and it cant be repaired. Then you WILL pay that price.

Or your a hotrod guy that just bought a crate motor only to reallize Dohh!!!!!!!! Whats missing. Same as the crossover tube!!! Something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

I paid $655 and it was worth every penny. Limey is selling a used one for $200+ more then I paid.

Makes me wonder what Limey would charge if he had a new one??

I never had oil cooler lines nor did I sell them for $500. Where are you getting your information?

Read my thread slower this time, I've only sold 1 ZR-1 specific part (in 8 years) and it was not on ebay, it was directly to SGREG.

I really find this thread comical as your entire business is Ebay based and your prices are all at a PREMIUM.

Again, I think you owe me an apology because you have the wrong guy, now you are saying I sold oil cooler lines?? Ask phrogs how often I email him about oil cooler lines or look how many times I post in threads asking for oil cooler lines.

Yes, it would be nice if people came here first to sell their stuff. Back to my point above, though. If we bitch about the price they want for their stuff and they are in business, they will sell elsewhere. Everyone has the right to pay what they want to and each item is precious to someone. Nice guys like Jim probably don't want to piss people off and take the heat so they offer their stuff to a world market. It's just less hassle regardless of the associated fees.

Yes I know, until G.M. releases the patten on a part nobody can make it.

Based on your replies, would I be correct in saying your 1st name is Jim? forgive me, but I have no idea who many of the people 1st names are on the forums

When I am emailing in my posts "Jim" I am referring to Jim AKA JVD

It was my understanding you purchased a set of oil cooler hoses from JVD on his eBay auctions last time round a few months back, if that isn't true, then I do owe you an apology, but what else I owe an apology for is perplexing?

My 1st post in this forum was that you paid top dollar for the NIB housing, I see nothing wrong in that & nothing pointed towards any hostile or negativity in my postings. The USED housing on my site was sold 6 months or so ago hence stock is set @ zero.

Over the past, you have most definitely got excellent deals on eBay:
i.e. Fuel pump - air duct etc, but & this is a big but, you have also paid top dollar for items & that is what my post was directed at & nothing more.

You are incorrect, my limit on oil cooler lines would be about $250-$300 for my own personal car.

My 1st post in this forum was that you paid top dollar for the NIB housing, I see nothing wrong in that & nothing pointed towards any hostile or negativity in my postings. The USED housing on my site was sold 6 months or so ago hence stock is set @ zero.

That is your opinion that I overpaid. I paid $655.00 and you sold a USED one for $878.14. So that tells me that if you had won the part, you were going to put the part on your website for over $1,000.

Over the past, you have most definitely got excellent deals on eBay:
i.e. Fuel pump - air duct etc, but & this is a big but, you have also paid top dollar for items & that is what my post was directed at & nothing more.[/quote]

You have just hit on the tip of the iceberg of my deals. All of the parts that I am holding now, have doubled or tripled over the years however they are just for personal use or to trade with some friends on this forum.

To recap, I have never sold ZR-1 parts on Ebay and the only part I did sell was directly to SGreg and at a very reasonable price.
