Last May at B.G. the conversation came up about trying to get copies of the original engine Dyno sheets. There were various reasons why GM would not release them. However someone stated that they would try and make a plea again to see if they could get GM to reconsider. Does anyone remember who that might have been or how or who one could approach?? Is this something the NCM might be able to assist with?? It would be pretty cool to have the original Dyno sheet. I am sure GM's legal boy's had some obscure reason for not letting loose of them. I hope they have not been destroyed.
Any Idea's ???

I lost my contact at GM. I'm working on new one.
My guess is we will never see the sheets. I have only heard of one person who has it, and they were given that sheet by Graham.

Based upon the cash whore that GM has become(selling their collection) maybe a cash offer would get it done. By the way a friend of mine has Bob Ltuz's son in laws vette in his garage right now if I get a chance to meet him I will beg and plead to see if we can get these.

Heheh, I was thinking the same thing! They'd sell their soul right now for a few bucks, why not some dusty old sheets of paper?

i don't really care that much about the numbers, to be honest but i would be interested to know the variables. what the conditions were corrected to, what kind of RPM/per second 'Step' they were using, what kind/type of particular dyno they were using-water brake or inetia...those sorts of things. just curious:dontknow:. don't think we'd really be able to get much of that information anyways, but...never know.

I don't necessarily either. I mean it won't make my car any faster nor slower. I just think they'd be neat to see. I'd also be curious about the variability between motors, as I've no idea what is "normal" for manufacturers.

Why not offer the money to the NCM?

Why not offer the money to the NCM?
We have offered before, but not since they went bankrupt.
They are planning on selling them as soon as they get the go ahead....
I heard a member say in the emails that we could sign a "waiver" when each person gets the dyno sheet? That would work for me!
I'll ask.

I would not have a beef with the numbers. I'm just happy with the numbers I have NOW.

I can't believe all the posts and opinions I've read on this subject. It reminds me of a lot of the politicians in Washington DC where there's too much talking but little being accomplished.
If this history info that's at the museum is too much for any of the past and present players to make a decision on, my suggestion is we should contact NCRS to take over and manage this info.
They have done an outstanding job documenting the history of Corvettes. I'm sure they could/would duplicate their past performance with all the important ZR-1 info that no one seems to be able to bring to fruition???

What we need are a couple ZR-1 owners who are Lawyers to get the ball rolling. I'm sure there are a couple somewhere who are enthusiasts and knowledgeable enough to push something like this through. As members we could support in a monetary way & they could contribute the expertise, probably wouldn't cost much, just invested time.:dontknow:

How about a friendly request signed by the ZR-1 registry members/ZR-1 owners and sent up to GM or the corvette. museum Essentially a petition.
These can often take the form of a standardized e-mail that is sent out and each member sends it to the group to which they are appealing.
Or maybe we get OJ Simpson to bust in the National corvette museum and get them, I heard he is good at that.

I just don't think anything will work as well as something printed up on an attorneys letterhead. That letterhead says allot to the other side, you need a lawyer to make any move from my experience, petition, friendly letter, to a forceful tone with a line or two of legal jargon for backup.:o

If the reason they are hesitent to send the rssults is the fear of being sued for lack of performance, as the 99 Cobra experienced, I would think sending a letter on an attorney's letterhead would only be cause for further caution.
I work with and deal with attorney's every day, honestly to someone who has a legal team, the involvement of an attorney really has no impact unless there is gross misconduct on someone's behalf, in which case you are screwed either way. Generally the calm and rationale presentation gets a better result than subtle indication that are looking to pick a beef. What would our grounds for litigation be, or how could an attorney for their hand. Ask the people who own 96-99 Ford Taurus SHOs(Cam gear failures), their class action has gone no where even with legal representation.
Just my opinion.

Pardon my ignorance.
These dyno sheets are the actual "test" results of each of our car's motor's when they were finished at Mercury Marine? Before they were shipped to BG for use in assembling our cars? WOW!
JMHO, again not to be speaking out of place. I would gladly buy a copy of my dyno sheet from the NCM archives. You know, just like when we buy copies of the build sheet & sticker. Wouldn't the NCM have a better shot at asking nicely to be allowed to be the "curator" of those "historical documents"? I'd even pre-pay for my sheet.

Tom, yes they are dyno tests of the motor after it was assembled.
There is no graph, just columns stating hp/tq/rpm and the conditions.

Thanks Jeff! Now, that would be cool to have, JMHO.
Okay, maybe it wouldn't be that cool to have...it's just that I bought my build sheet and I think it's a nice addition to all the paper work I have from my car's original owner. The only thing I don't have are the canceled checks from the transaction. I'd buy a copy from the NCM, to me that would be the next best thing to owning the original sheet...again JMHO.:o
