Many of you may remember Julios old SGC 408 car from a few years back, i purchased it 4 years ago for a LOT of money, at that time it was one of the fastest street cars in FL. Anyway, after having the car roughly 4 weeks, the 1st time i used the nitrous in a race the engine blew two pistons.

After dealing with no end of problems with my engine builder, i finally got the car back about 8 weeks ago, well needles to say, after driving it 8 miles, the motor let go again, this was driving @ 45 MPH in traffic. I am sure the cam is seizing in the cylinder head.

So, to cut a long story short & to lower the stress factor this car has given me over the past 4 years, i decided that it's time to sell it and focus on my next road warrior project. (for those interested, this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vphD7X6WYNw) is one car we just finished, next in line is a Murcielago) The car is now listed on ebay and you can see pics and details here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110331396729#ebayphotohosting).

I'm more than happy to answer any questions to forum members direct & would be happy to allow anyone local to come see the car and decide if they feel like fxing it, but for me i have no desire to work on it anymore, 4 years is plenty of time.

I thought my LT5 issues were severe, but wow, you have absolutely 0 luck with that motor. That sure is a nice ZR1 for under 6K. SAome one will get a really nice peice.

Sadly, the purchase of this car was a massive money pit for me, should have pulled the Nitrosu kit off from day one and drove it as is, the 408 motor was laying down 550 RWHP all day long, but you know how it is, you always want to go a bit faster, and for the past 4 years i have been paying that price.

I hadn't looked at the car in the past 8 weeks, therfore decided to part with it as it stands. We could quite easily pull the motor and try to fix it, but when you realize i have a 415 motor @ haibecks getting overhauled & then a 408 still @ SGC gathering dust, working on a 368 has little interest to me.

I'm going to sell the car & in the new year, pick up a yellow or white 1990 and drop in the 415 from Haibecks, that will give me a fresh start on things.

The car will sel @ no reserve, i am certain it will still fetch decent money but who knows.

I agree with Johnny, since you have to rebuild a motor, why not have Julio's original ride.

Cause the 408 gave up the ghost as well. And I have the crank :handshak:

Knew it was toast, didn't know, however, that it was parted out. Hence saying the 408 is at SGC is an incorrect statement.

Well, the motor is supposed to be used for a TT set up. Minus the 4" crank. And the motor is physically at SGC.

So the 4" crank is still in the motor, however, it wasn't going to be part of the final TT motor? Oh yeah, and minus the Stage III cams.

Sad to see the car in such a state.

The billing of "408" is just as everybody knows the car. 4" crank is not in the motor. I believe the cams were sold a few years ago when I bought the crank.

thanks for the info. I thought the cams were in the 368. Anyway, like I said, I thought this car was pretty cool when Julio had it. Too bad Limey had such problems with it.

You have personal plans for the crank? 4" seems to be a very good compromise.

As far as i know the 368 has a set of stage 3's in it as well. Kurt had a bunch of parts from a couple of motors. I think he even had some Stage 2's at some point.

Yep, the 4" will be going into my car. I was thinking this winter, but it will be next winter.

The "408" motor is at SGC and has been for a while. I sent it to get a TT conversion done, the crank was sold to Jeff as Aaron was doing a 368 TT as that is what was done to Wayne Hales car & what i wanted too. The cams were sold as well, these were SGC stage 3 cams that went to CA. and they were too big for the TT motors. Everything else on the 408 is still at Aarons.

The 415 motor i had, well that was another kirchoeffer nightmare that lasted about 300 miles before it locked up. No nitrous was on it i may add, i had completly removed the system prior to putting the 415 in it.

The 415 went back to bills, sat there for 3 years & is now @ Haibecks getting worked on again, the 415 crank is "lost" at Moldex, they can't find it & the 368 that i had Bill kirchoeffer build while waiting on the 415, well that is what is in the "408" car now & , lasted 8 miles before it failed.

Hence the reason i want to sell the car & get something else.
