just refinish my 94 LT5 engine and got ASR service light, what is best way
to learn my TPS voltage with EBTCM in case that I dont have Tech 1.
thanks,Jano:wave:

Do you mean what is the best way to adjust it? If so, I'd guess either a scantool/datalogger, or a good old fashion voltmeter. I don't recall what the exact settings should be, but the factory manual spells it out clearly in the sensor replacement section.

If you want to know how to "learn" it once it is set up, I could be wrong but I don't believe there is any procedure for that?

Bob, Im tryin to get ASR light off ...like was before so I read that incase when is throotle body installed the EBCTM must learn the TP sensor idle position voltage....
what else can be reason for ASR ervice light ?
thanks,Jano

Jano,

Have you driven the car yet?

up and down on my garage.....it is bad weather here.

Jano, If the car does not travel enough distance the FX3 system can not complete it's self-test. Just moving in & out of the garage will not provide enough time/distance/speed for the system to complete the checks. Also, if the car is started three times without moving it will set an FX3 code for the same reason.

In your case I think that you are only having the "service ride control" light because the system doesn't have enough time/speed/distance to run the check. That's why the "service ride control" light is being set. Drive her around the block on the next restart, shut her down, restart and the light will clear.

I see, so you are trying to adjust the throttle relaxer for the ASR? My '90 does not have ASR so I don't know how you adjust it, but you are right there is a procedure for doing so. Hopefully someone who knows more about ASR can chime in.

Tom,

That's what I was thinking also.

I think he's talking about the acceleration slip regulation. I assume (though don't know) it has its own warning light separate from the SRC one?

I did a quick check of the 94 FSM and of course it only gives the TPS learning procedure using the Tech 1. Could you borrow one? The procedure looks fairly simple.

Jano,

Any chance you have a DVM? You should be able to build patch wire for TPS signal and ground wires then read voltage. If you have a scantool that would be cool also. :hello:

thanks for replys , first I will take Z for a ride (need some good weather) and see what will happen with ASR service light .......I dont have chance got Teh1 here , what mean DMV (voltmetter ??)or what..
Anyway , here is my engine picture with fresh paint that i done  (use brake calipers paint) it is perfect to me and Im really lucky , except this damm asr llight.............

I dont think he is talking about setting the TPS voltage. There is a pocedure for the ABS/ASR to let the computer know what voltage the TPS is at idle.

excately 65ZR1 , but I cant get tech1 anywhere here , can this be reason for
service light ?

Jano,

I think you need to reset the slack on the cable between the ASR and the Throttle Body. I'm assuming you've tried the ASR button on the dash.
BTW DVM stands for Digital Voltmeter.

I'm reviving this thread because I recently removed my throttle body and TPS.
I did this while the battery was connected. Although there is no SERVICE ASR LIGHT, the cable adjuster will not allow full throttle opening. I reset the length using a 1/8" drill bit and mashing the throttle. That resets correct length BUT whenever I start motor, cable goes slack and will not allow full throttle. It also feels as if timing is retarded. Replaced ASR cable adjuster motor as well. Same result. I have set TPS voltage using my scantool, but it appears that the ECBM requires the Tech 1 in order for it to learn TPS voltage at idle. The FSM doesn't show any other method for this. I don't get any codes or lights. Anyone have a Tech 1 I can borrow? Checked w Marc and he does not have one. I may need to call Gordon Killebrew on this one.

Hey Dominic I was just thinking that Sammy from Elko, NV posted up about this issue some where in the tech section I think. He had an answer to the issue, but I can't remember what the procedure to correct the lack of WOT.

I didn't pay attention too much as my car is a 90 and we're electronically challenged vs the later cars.:-D
