Well I have the opporunity to buy a 2nd Z very cheap, they only problem is the car will have to either sit outside or I will need to fork over $100 per month for a garage space. This is a very high miler but not in bad shape.

Putting my wifes Mercedes CLK 500 outside is a non-option, and I am definately not moving my 92 w/21K miles outside.

Is it a sin to park a Z outside in the Chicago winter? I already have the LT5 project going. But I would like to drive this car as is and make it into a Snakeskinner 3100lb car and maybe even drop the spare into it. I also have the Gen I dymags for it.

Looking for your thoughts, I just cannot see dumping $100 per month in a parking spot for a car that I didn't pay much for.

$100 a month is a drop in the bucket in my opinion.

However there are other options:

$4-500 to protect $15-20k investment = bad decision??

Sorry, I guess I just don't understand the math here...

The carbag thing.. hmm from what I can see buying that would be over half what the winter storage costs would be - again it doesnt seem to compute.

Just my two penneth...

Yes, half the costs and you have it for probably the next decade.

Is all that money burning a hole in your pocket? I just can't relate. "It's not a sin to be poor! Just damn inconvenient."

Well it would be more like $1200 per year unless I park it outside in the summer and bring it in during the winter....$60 per month is not bad.

I'd argue that more damage happens to the car in the summer.

1200 is a drop in the bucket or i'd go used car cover for $60 and then that car bag for $300. That would keep all the snow and crap off your car.

Do you have an option to put a carport on the side/rear of the house ?
---
Or get a nice outdoor car cover. Use the car cover, and during the winter use the cover with a tarp.
---
Use the 60 buck a month garage for winter storage only.
---

We have a 2 car garage. 2 are in the garage 1 is outside with cover under a carport. The other in a storage garage.
:blahblah: (long winded)

Happy Thanksgiving

Put a lift in the garage and park one under:mrgreen:. Only took me 10 years to figure that one out and it is/was the best decision yet. Ted

I used the $60 storage last year, nice place, car was fine all winter

I live in a townhome so my so it would take about a week before they voted out parking cars outside with a tarp or cover on them. What I might be able to do is swing the $60 or so per month for a year and then next year get the lift.

This car is very cheap and doubt I will see another for the $

Maybe not - what I read on the website seemed to say it was designed for indoor use - so how long will it last outside?

Not sure you will have room side to side for the lift. How tight is your garage?

I know I don't really have the room side to side for a lift.. I could but it would be tight

get dimensions of overall size and measure it out

LGAFF
11-27-2008, 08:49 PM
Lift is 8' 6" wide and just under 14' long. 6"9" tall/ Appears it would fit by measurements but as with anything you add it tightens things up.

I have a 16' door, 9' 6" ceilings there is also about a foot and a half on both sides of the door opening.

Maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

Yeah issue I was running into was access to the passenger doors of my wife car while in the garage ( my vette is on the right side)
