It seems like everybody wants to race. Even people that have no business racing like the honda civics with there mosquito exshaust pipe thats bark is worse than its bite. Hell, my grandmas 1973 512cid Cadillac could smoke most of these so called fast cars. This is usually what I get. Toyoda tundra pulls up full of teenagers. Hey man, nice vette. What year is it? Want to race? I laugh. No really man, you want to race. And I say! Your freaken kidding right? Boy you must be high on crack. You need to pull up to the light with something better than your daddy's pickup truck. Your gonna hurt that truck trying to keep up with me. To funny.

Had a guy pull up to me the other day in a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T convertible.... he asked "is that a real ZR-1?" Yes. "oh man :blahblah: " So we take off normaly & I hear a little wheel chirp from his car... hes pounding on it to try -n- catch up with me.... I couldnt resist, I hammered down and all I could see in my rear view mirror was him shaking his head in disbelief

This was very far out of town on a 30 mile very straight, long road. It was at the last light going out of town and we were the first 2 cars at the light..... so no sermons on street racing please. I dont make a habit of this kind of play.

Its funny you mention wheel chirping. Because you pull up to a light and I hear people chirping there tires just because the vette is there. When you whip out the ol Z it gets everybody's testosterone pumping. Cause and effect I guess.:worship:

Handling is good as well. My car grips real well on the turns. I assume most do as well.

Tires make a big difference to. I have Vreds on the rears and old hard KDWS on the front. And damn it! The Vreds are just hard to break loose even in the rain. I think they grip even better in the rain. I just don't understand how they grip so good. I thought my car had been slippen on the horse power but it dyno'd at 343rwhp. I just don't know.:dontknow:

I know what you mean. When my wife's in the car and I nail on it for a second she says "I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN YOU DO THAT" And I tell her just chill out woman. After driving a Mazda 626 to work all week, I can't wait to drive the Z on the weekends. "(Fahrvergnügen)"!

When I had my dearly departed Z, I got SO much more attention from ricers than when I drive my '07 Convertible. Why? I think it's because ricers driving Civics recognize C4 Vettes as "slow" and "crappy."

Too bad I had to educate them about the difference between a normal C4 and the mighty ZR-1. God I miss that car... :(

That sucks you totalled yours. Thats the only thing I worry about. I don't worry about what other people are gonna do but what my crazy azz will do. All I have to do is invision myself in slow motion wrapping it around a tree and that settles me down in a hurry. I would be so angry with myself if I ever did that. so i try to be the more mature one.

I didn't total my car being a dumbass (luckily?) Instead, I hit a patch of ice when I was merging onto the highway and the rear end slipped out and I took out a lightpole. Not fun...

But I never put anyone in harm's way.

I can't say the same for myself. I'm 38 now but when I was 23 I got a 1990 Suzuki GSXR 1100. 0 to 60 in 2.0 seconds top speed about the same as my Z but would get there in half the time. I use to look at motorcycle magazines and day dream about having this bike. To make a long story short 6 monthes after I got the bike I totalled it to pieces. I crashed going 120mph. I was in the hospital 3 monthes and 3 surgury's on my left leg where my knee cap got ripped out. Broke my left wrist and had 6 titanium pins 6 inches long drilled into my hand to hold it together under a full arm cast. And a skin graph over my left knee after they found my knee cap on the side of the freeway and popped it back in. The helmet saved my life. So I know what can happen if you take it to far. The only place I'll drive like that is on the race track. And there are still no guarantees on the race track. I'm glad I didn't get this car when I was 23 because it would be on the list of totalled ZR-1's.

Found your kneecap on the side of the road? :jawdrop:
Sheesh!! Thats the only reason I havent gotten another streetbike, afraid that would be my story some day. Ironic enough Ive wanted the exact same bike. Im best left to 4 wheels, I know Im usually going to make it home.
Too many people out here to be riding one, its just nuts.

Funny thing is when I was laying on the ground the California Highway patrol officer asked me what happened son? And I said I was just going to fast. It was nobody else's fault but mine. He wrote me a ticket for speeding. And my court date was in two weeks. I didn't get out of the hospital for three months. And was so high on morphine and unconscious. So when I did get out I had a warrent for my arrest. How nice. I said the hell with California. I knew I was moving to Texas anyway so I never took care of it. And never had a reason to ever go back there.
