hey guys.....

We are going to plan something HUGE for our Anniversary year and will need all guys to step up to make reservations early (6 months @ the latest). I'm already talking to GM about getting "our" collection there @ the event (12 Cyl / Convertibles / etc etc) and hopefully our celebrities too (GM engineers / Haibeck / etc) to come & make this event special.

We need your input too. Ideas, participation (YES YOU!) and cars @ the show... There will be huge "door" prizes, lots of food, activities and of course lots of Z's!

Carlisle is 2 years out, but bookmark it on your calendar NOW! Don't forget about BG either.... Once the dates are set, we will start the REAL planning.

Please pass along any ideas and tell your Z friends about it.

Cheers!

David

ps we are hoping our friends from Spain bring their Z's... :)

:occasion1 :occasion1 20th Anniversary of the ZR-1 :occasion1 :occasion1

Plan for it now. Corvettes at Carlisle in 2010 will be 27-29 August 2010. Be there.

If we start now, we will be able to get a lot of good press and coverage for the ZR-1 Community.

We are looking for ideas about special events that we can set up to honor our fine cars.

You mention BG and Carlisle, are you planning on doing huge stuff at both? If I may voice an opinion, the Gathering seems more appropriate to me, as it's a ZR-1 (and C4) specific event. Also because there are more interesting things to do there than just watch parked cars in a field (like drag racing, etc).

Will the drag strip and road course at BG be finished for the 2010 gathering?

What about talking with Bloomington Gold about something special for the ZR-1 ?? Maybe the special collection? or something along those lines

Good point. Bloomington is a huge event and we should "represent" there.

We will need our Chicago chapter to help bigstyle..... If I can, I will go to all 3 events that year.

I got a reply and replied back.. he said they usually do something at 25 years. but who knows.. I will keep everyone posted on what I hear

Bob, I agree about the Gathering being the premiere event. I hope that we can come up with some things to make The 2010 Gathering a big deal.

My idea about Carlisle was to try to change exactly what you describe. Try to make it more interesting and more participitory. Carlisle is a behemoth of a show and suffers a little from that. I would like to see some events/activities that we conduct in our area that we control and will draw a crowd. May we could have two teams do a plenum pull and replace race. Or a trouble shooting challenge to solve a staged problem. I am sure that lots of ideas will be brought up.

I believe that the race courses were to be completed in 2009, but I took a quick look at the website and didn't see a date.
