Hey guys, I'm looking at making performance improvements one step at a time to my bone stock 90 Z. Where should I start first. If I go with 4:10 gears how much top speed does that shave off if any. Rear gear is probably going to be the single biggest performance boost I'll make. Also I am a machinist, cnc programmer and supervisor of the shop. So as far as porting and polishing the plenum & intake goes I can slap both of them up on the cnc mill and write a program to port it any way I want and leave a 16 finish. I just don't know what dimensions to shoot for. Like what diameter and how deep to bore. Is it supposed to taper down and blend? Not sure. Any pictures, dimensions, advice would help.;)
If you have a CNC i can sent you Intake (injector housings) that are already ported and you can make a CnC program.
The magic number opening is 36+mm.

Ok so 36mm divided by 25.4mm= 1.417 in inches. That would be great pete. I would feel much better having something to look at and take dimensions off of. If its pretty strait forward I can have mine done and off the machine in an hour. Aluminum machines like butter. I will pm you with my address. Thanx:handshak:

I'd give blood to know what you know re CNC programming. But, that is another story.
Well, 1 hour...That sounds pretty good. There are some nuances to be sure, but if it will beat P&P with a die grinder, you could probably do a little cottage business for a spell! I'll stay tuned. If you get that CNC written, and want to port a few for some $$, I may want to get in line!

Yeah I've been doing it now for 18 years. So when people ask me how I got interested in the trade I just tell them in a Charlton Heston/Mosses voice "I DIDN'T CHOOSE THIS TRADE!" "IT CHOSE ME". I started when I was 18 and have been in it ever since. It definetely has its advanteges. Especially when it comes to stuff like this.

Here's some strip times for mods I did.
1. Open Air Cleaner Lid w/ K&N Filter ($100) 13.67 @ 106.8
2. Flowmaster Exhaust ($560)
Haibeck Chip ($275) 12.96 @ 109.2
3. Watson 1 7/8 Headers /No Cats ($?? Special Deal from a friend)
Haibeck Recalibrated Chip 12.53 @ 112.8
There was more in this car as I only made three runs the very first time out this year with the headers and the 12.53 was the best (and that was with a slipping clutch). I got the clutch fixed and then popped a 1/2 Shaft U-joint on the starting line first pass, next time out. Put new Spicer u-joints in the 1/2 shafts, bought the "new" car and decided to sell the "old" car so no runs since repaired. I've since removed the headers and won't be running the car anymore.
I think for the mods this car had it ran very well and I don't see why yours wouldn't do about the same. Add the porting and a sea level track and you are banging on the 11 second door easily.
Hope all this helps.

Have you ever had to machine G10 fiberglass? Lets just say there are certain places you don't want to get that stuff on your body. You will itch for days. So aluminum isn't to bad. hehe!

I just saw you are a new member and really have very little info in your profile.
Also you only gave me your address with no name.
Sorry, for being a bit cautious hope you understand.
