Usually I only take my 93 out for a drive once per year given the fact that I don’t want to put too many miles on it, as well as the need to move 4 vehicles in order to get it out of the garage. This year the main reason for getting my yearly trip permit from the MTO was in order to take the 93 to our local corvette club’s 40th anniversary get together for present and past club members. Recently, I had a day off from work and decided to take it out for another casual drive. I had to go to the bank and decided to park right in front of the bank (silly I know but I have to be able to see it when parked) When I came outside I saw a Black 2006 ZO6 parked right behind my 93. As well, there were a number of people around my car looking at it. I decided to just hang back and wait for the people to disburse. After the people moved on, I took the opportunity to go to my car. As I was approaching the driver’s door, the guy who owned the ZO6 came up to me and asked if this car was all original and I said yes. He indicated he had only seen 2 of these and wanted to see the infamous LT-5. After looking at the engine and the car for a few moments he then said to me, that if given the choice, he would rather own the 93 40th ZR-1 then his 2006 ZO6. I thought what a great compliment, as I will admit that I have recently had thoughts of selling the 40th and buying a ZO6. Given what this guy said to me, I have had a change of heart and plan on keeping the 40th for a number of years to come and in time I will acquire a Z06 as well.

Like the rest of us I enjoy hearing such stories.

Many people have heard of the prowess of the ZR-1, but have never seen one in person. I have on more than one occasion started it up just so someone could hear it growl.

As to your desire for a Z06, let someone else pay off the depreciation, and pick one up sometime in the future when you can afford to keep both.

As a true enthusiast, I always appreciated the ZR-1, just couldn't afford it back then. I recently purchased a '92 ZR-1 and I'm enjoying it very much.

It's totally different than my '07 Z06 but I figure the Z06 wouldn't be what it is if it weren't for the ZR-1.

Enjoy the drive!
