Is the first step to get the pully off? How is this accomplished. The pump removal doesn't look very straight forward, and the manual is confusing, and unclear as to the steps. I need to remove to get the cam cover off. Any tip sheets out there?
Thanks in advance.

Power steering unit is in part 2. But it's held on by three bolts.

Basically the PS pump pulley has holes in it.
Turn the pulley to line up the 3 bolts one at a time.

Actually...There are more than 3 bolts one can remove from the access holes in the pulley. (Don't ask!) Only the three long bolts hold the pump on, and the others hold the reservoir in place.

The pump removal was easy enough, but it was the fluid change out that was more of a challenge than anything. It can get messy - or did for me. All-in-all tho, it wasn't a bad job. (Beats the hell outta changing the Opti on an LT1 car, I can tell ya!)

There is a groove around the hub of the pulley. You'll need a puller to get the pulley off, and that groove is the purchase point for the puller. (I got a puller at Napa that worked very well.) Pay attention to getting the pulley reinstalled so that it lines up with the other pulleys - don't want any angle or offset as the belt will not be happy if there is.

Good luck!
