I'm not sure how feasible this is but, is anybody interested in making a calendar? I was thinking that we could send in some pix with a little info about the car, and have one made up. It's just a thought, and I don't have any idea how much something like that would cost. Any interest or suggestions?

I am interested. I think it is a great idea. I have a client who made a calendar of his art work (low volume production, but very nice quality). I will try to find out where he got it made, after I get back from vacation.

We've made a calendar of our Corvette club members' cars...12 one for each month for the past few years. After we collected the 12 pictures and complete editing, croping, adjustment light/dark etc, we put them on a cd after. Then, give the cd to Staples (Office Max was also priced about the same) and ended up with them doing all the work, giving us proofs, etc and shipping the beautiful calendars to us, I think 100 calendars cost about $9-$10 each.
The hardest part was getting good pictures with big enuff size, pixels, to get quality pictures, and collecting the $$ to place the order paid in advance. As I remember it the office product stores start reducing printing service prices starting about Nov 1.

That's cheaper than I would have thought.
What if we did this through the Registry? Maybe include it in next years membership at an additional fee.

I'd bet Staples, Office Max or any similar offic supply store that does calendars would love to cut a great deal for us if we did it thru the buying power of the Registry. Think of the advertising exposure they'd get by doing our calendars with ZR-1 pictures!
When we did the calendars last time every body in the store and the staff where they did the printing ALL knew of our VETTES and drooled over the pictures. Whenever I'd go to the store, they'd page by saying " Printing services, the CORVETTE guy is here for you"

I'm not sure where to send them yet. If we get some interest, I'd be happy to call around and get some prices. I just don't know if we should do it through the Registry or, if we should just do it on our own. Ron, any suggestions?
Thanks

this idea has come up several times and in fact we talked about shooting the pics at carlisle this year.
I really like the idea of doing a ZR-1 calendar.
lets do it!! I'll bring it up at the next board meeting and I need someone to help us get the info of what it takes to get it done, costs, ect...
I think it would be great to get this done in time for 2009 as every ZR-1 owner would love it.
remembery sexycorvettes.com??? sam and I worked up a nice vette calendar and yes it was selling for around $10 which is very reasonable.
I even met a great photographer down in BG.
does anyone coming to carlisle have a really good digital camera that could volunteer to take some pics. we'll sure have plenty of ZR-1s to chose from there! that would give us plenty of time for production
thanks for bringing this up, great idea.

I would like to rep. the 95 blacks. Staples and Kinkos all do a nice job. I'm always there I will stop and get the info today. I think all the car shots should be at different locations. race tracks (road course-1/4 mile), park, beach. twisty mountain road, day/night shots. List of mods if any. Last but not least can't forget the naked girls:D :D

if we come up with the photos and text how much would it be to produce the calendar? once I know that it's very ez, I type up a brief proposal for vote by the board.
we can then sell it on the reg store.
I think we could make this a fairly popular item that many of the members would enjoy.
we need to figure out also about how many folks would be interested as we don't want to produce a bunch of them and have them sit around.
the $$ we have all belongs to US the members, so we need to spend it wisely and do what the membership wants. thanks for your help, I think this could be a very cool project!:D

I stopped by Kinkos on Sat. $19.99 for a 12 month calender but if we ordered a least 50 then the price would drop down to $14.00 per. I will get other bulk# discounts tomorrow. You can add 10 specal dates for $10.00(per bulk order not per calender) then .50 any additional dates(again per bulk). Also you can add text to the pictures if we wanted owner names and list of mods. They also offer a 18 mth calender. I will stop by Staples tomorrow and get their price list. Let me know of any ?'s that need to be answered.

REMEMBER IF HISTORY REPEATS THE LIST PRICES ALWAYS ARE DISCOUNTED STARTING ABOUT NOV 1. Ask the person at Staples if they rememnber doing that the last couple years. They always said if you order before "X" date you get the seasonal special prices and they always met the delivery date before New Years Eve for us. Staples had free S&H. Kinkos was THE most expensive of all we shopped.

OK folks, here is an update, Carlisle will have a couple of Hooters girls joining us and I'm sure they wouldn't mind posing with the vettes
I'd like to take a bunch of pics and also ask members from around the country to submit pics and write ups.
we'll talk about this more, but the concept is to put the pics up, and decide which ones make the calendar and also poll the members to see how many would be interested so we have a rough idea on how many to make.
I also want to see if we can do them in "batches". order 50-100 at a time, sell them, and then as we need more, order another batch so we don't end up with a pile of unsold calendars.
see you in carlisle!!

Ron, I'm all for voting on the pics. I also thought that if we had enough left over we could do another one next year. Maybe include it in the membership renewal for an additional fee? Just a thought.

Batches is no problem, All the info will be there all you have to do is plug in and play. I also inquired about glossy paper, I figured some of these cals would be hanging in some of our garages. The glossy will be easier to keep clean and looking good. It should only add about 2.00 per calender. for the upgraded paper. This info was given to me from Staples. I agree about a yearly calender w/membership.

I suggest that if we get more than twelve good pictures, we put out more than one calendar.
It appears that the printing cost will allow us to print "small" batches, so we could print small batches of several different versions of a 2009 calendar.
We might be able to get everyone who wants to submit a picture into a calendar. And we will get a chance to sell more calendars.
I volunteer to be on the production team if help is needed.

DOA so far...but like the Phoenix can rise from the oblivion...I would love to organize a ZR-1 group pic and calendar... in my Audi TT days I was a primary event organizer and one thing I did was a group pics... at this event there were a 130 Audi TTs at the Biltmore estate in NC>>

Talk about herding cats... so damn yes we can pull off a calendar or even a group poster ( the pic shown [low res version] became a poster)

Costco has a pretty simple and low-cost solution to putting a calendar together. Cost would be $10 for a 12-month calendar plus $5 for shipping and you can buy 1 or 1000 and they don't have to be ordered at the same time -- i.e, it's pretty easy to order them separately and have them shipped to different addresses. It's just a matter of the time it takes to enter the various orders.
Any interest in this? There is plenty of time to put together a 2010 calendar -- just need to start working on the photos. If there is interest and need, we could tack on say an extra $5 and give this to the registry.

Hi new member here. I also just so happen to be a printer in New Jersey. Can produce calendar at my shop. If we want a customized calendar on glossy paper can do. Can some one set up files or would I have to do that also. Could produce for under $9.00 plus shipping. if file were ready for press. Producing as little as 5 at a time.

If I get 11 of my friends to submit pictures, can I get twelve calendars printed for $9.00 each? That sounds like a pretty good deal. What format and resolution do you need for the images? I can do that part of the production.
Hey MD/NoVA group: First 8 people who contact me will get a calendar with their ZR-1 pictured in it for $9.00 plus shipping. Early contact gets you your choice of month. If I get more than 12 pictures I will start on a second calendar.

I would need hi rez pictures 300 dpi or more which meens you would not be able to email the photo's. When you are ready to send the pictures I will give you an address or an FTP site for you to drop the photo's on. Now for the bad news. I will set-up the calendar with months and pictures, but I am not a designer so the final product will be very generic.

Suggest anyone that has seen a calendar they like show it for ideas... I have a MINI as my DD thus have a MINI calendar. I like its basic layout and a few additional features>>
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/MRBLU/MINIcalendar.jpg
The info band on the calendar right is a nice idea...we could easily do ZR-1 info and tid bits. Also could use the stylized ZR-1 red logo screen out for a background image on every month (Just like the stylized shift pattern shown in grey on the MINI calendar.
My thoughts anyway...
