I called the agent at Condon and Skelly(full disclosure I work for a company that works with them). I got a quote for a year at $212.00(no I don't get a discount), there are no mileage limits or exclusionary language per say for use, 0 ded, 300K liability limits. This is a new product they can their "concours" policy. They do weed out vehicles that are driven on a regular basis via the application process.

If you drive your car mostly to club events, shows, etc with the occasional social use they are open to quoting you. Requirements are:

-Value over 20K
-Own 1 daily driver for each member of household
-carry seperate ins for other vehicles
-use the vehicle mainly for club events

If you are driving your car 5K miles per year this is not a policy for you, but I drive about 1-2K per year. This is new for them, in the past I didn't bother as they focused on trailer queens, etc and if you drove the vehicle outside of going to events, and parades there was no coverage and they really only insured cars over 20 years old.

I am going to fill out an app and will let you know.

Is this an agreed value policy, and if so what was the value?

LGAFF

Probably a dumb question, but does the insurance cover if someone other that you is driving when damage is incurred?

you state there is no mileage limits, but then go on to say if you put 5K or more on per year then this ins is NOT for you.. that kind of contradicts itself doesn't it?

So with this new policy what are the limitations you get for $212 a year?

LGAFF
07-30-2008, 10:33 PM
There are no limits for mileage, however during the application process they are going to weed out people who are just trying to get insurance for high use cars. These policies offer the same cover or better than your daily driver, however they underwrite to ensure proper risk. 5K miles per year is alot for a classic or exotic car, 12K is average yearly use on a daily driver.

They are only able to offer lower rates if they don't take on daily driver exposures.

LGAFF

There is no exclusion for taking it to work, but I am sure they would discourage regular work usage as part of the process, best thing to do would be to call and answer the questions as honestly as you can and let them see if you fit the profile.

Quotes and app process are free

Here's what you need: Call Condon and Skelly, they will ask a few questions to see if you fit the profile/underwriting guidelines. You then need to do the following:

1)fill out app they will send you

2)Include copy of your dec page for your daily drivers from your ins carrier

3)Take pics of all 4 sides, and motor include with app

4)Send check for quoted premium. Or wait and see if they accept app, then send. They will review and if they accept the app they will notify you when coverage starts.

Lee,

Just spoke with Tony. He says this program is for "show cars" with the average mileage being < 2000miles/yr. He said the program is not for
pleasure driving. He apologized for any misunderstanding. Oh well.

**As noted they are looking for the customer who drives 1-2K per year, not for daily drivers or if you are in a higher range.

Here is info from the website

What Types of Vehicles Do We Insure?
Antique & Classic Vehicles including Trucks and Motorcycles
Collectible Special Interest and Modern Classics
Vintage Fire Trucks, Farm Tractors, Military Vehicles
Street Rods, Customs, Modifieds
Kit Cars & Replicas
Vehicles under active restoration may also qualify.

What Don't We Insure?
We do not insure vehicles that are used for daily transportation, as a substitute or backup vehicle, off-road use, utility type use, hauling, business or commercial purposes.

Why is the cost of coverage so low?
The answer is simple --- collectible vehicle owners love their cars. They are experienced drivers with excellent driving records. Typically they only drive their vehicles in good weather and for a limited number of miles a year. In the northern regions of the country, most collectible vehicle owners store there cars during the winter months. Collectible vehicle owners are passionate about their vehicles, the claims rate is low and thus our rates are very competitive.

I don't know - seems too cheap to me. :dontknow:

What are your liability limits? Is it 300k or above?

I'm paying double that but my car is insured for $50,000.

I'd be asking around if I were you, perhaps they are a good company but I have never heard of them. I'd feel more comfortable with a LeLand West or Haggerty etc.

You never find out how good your insurance is until you get into an accident!

im guessing theres a lof fine print and exclusions in that one, read it carefully.
Dropped my classic policy with Safeco and have a reg one just comp as its not being driven. Less value but $3 a month...Just temporary.

So going on a nice cruise on a Sunday would not be covered ( if you go by yourself) as it is not really social use..

for now, I will stick with State Farm, currently book value is more then I paid for it

It does seem pretty low to me too. I guess I can understand why the rates can be reduced based on their parameters. The only thing that bothers me is how far away the company is from where I am. I live in a fairly small town & my agent is 5 miles from here. I like being able to do business face to face, especially in the event of an accident.

Thank you for posting the link and the phone number though! Its definately an option for some of us. :hello:

There are not exclusions for leisure driving in the policy, they are tough on the UW part. There are alot of people who are trying to insure daily drivers or higher use cars under the policy so the UW process is designed to weed those out. The # listed is for 300K limits. and much of the premium is based on vehicle ACV.

LG did you end up with them?

Did they stick to $212

Is it ok to use at the Drag Strip? Or is it tough luck if u crash at the strip?

I think I am gonna try these guys.

Karterdon has insurance with them, I am goign to get coverage once I get the 2nd car. They are really looking for people that use the car less than 3K miles per year. Let me know how it goes, I may go with Heacock Ins as they offer a huge discount for a 2nd car.

The advantage with the Condon and Skelly car is that theyh offer coverage at the track if you are at a club event.

:thumbsup:Sweet deal for your situation!

I would offer up this as an alternative for those of us that drive our Z's a bit more...:o.....usually only one Z in the household.

Try asking your regular car ins carrier if they have any "in-house speciality" products/ clauses that recognize a unique usage pattern for valuable cars. You may be surprised what you find if you are with one of the bigger companies. I am not well versed by any means on this subject. I just called my agent, customer since about 1980 with a local independent agent, and they hooked me up with the company that had my DD. They had a product for people like me that do about 5k to < 12k a yr. It wasn't as cheap as the real speciality companies, but those guys did not really have a product that fit my driving habits. My 08 Cobalt Sport and my 90 Z cost me $158.00 @ month for agreed value on the Z and 300/100/50 w/ 1k ded on both cars. Don't get me wrong here. There are restrictions, logical ones...ya know ya gotta have a DD, garage, they assume you're sane..:sign10:...no racing, good record @ DMV, usual stuff.

No go with C&S has to be 25 years old.

I brought up that the website stated 15.

Unless you are an existing client then maybe 15.

So much for C&S. :thumbsdo:

Tried American Collectors and they wanted $416 per year for 25K coverage.

This is higher than my current company @ $400.

Where are these $200 deals at?

You must call in to Condon and Skelly ask them for their concours policy. If the person who answer the phone does not understand, ask them to speak to the agent.

OK we tried again and asked for an agent on the new Concours program. Ended up with the same gal named Traci as b4. She said no way even on a ZR-1 20K vette policy does not meet 25 year old guidelines. When I questioned if she was an agent for the new policy she claimed she was.

I told her we had been told otherwise about the new program. She said get the name of the person who was stating such and to go from there.

Got a contact name?

Thanx -- Bryan

Sorry Bryan,

I have to wash my hads of them, Concours does not have a model year restriction......but this is not my product. C&S are a good company if you can get in but I am not sure how they are underwriting. Maybe things have changes but they have taken Zs before....maybe too high a loss ration for their taste I don't know.

My apologies.

Hey No biggie

Just wanting to save a few $$

Maybe someone else will chime in with a company that wants to insure us!

I did get a $320 estimate from Grundy so that was a slight improvement but I will wait until next fall renewal to move for only a $100 difference.

Plus my current policy won't let me drag race even if it is a club event. Not sure about Grundy on that one either.

With our great forum here if a smart company got involved they could get a lot of us if they came up with a good program for about $100 per 10K coverage I bet.

Good news travels fast.

Check State Farm.
I have my home & 4 vehicles with them. Both Corvettes fall into the collector/classic guideline (over 10 years old) and I have both insured on agreed/stated value. With the drop in street prices the 90 Z is probably worth double its street value should it be totalled in an accident which is pretty ridiculous. Restrictions on this insurance are very workable: no driver under 26 and can't be used as a daily driver (work or school). No real mileage restriction but company has an expectation of low miles driven per year which is the case for me ... my 97 C5 just recently turned 20K and my 90 Z, which does have over 100K, hasn't seen many miles this year. Matter of fact it's on jackstands waiting to be put back together (Jeffvette, where are my parts?) Full coverage on both Vettes combined is just over $550 annually ... I'm not complaining !!!

George
