I can help with the pesky illumation wire and the Varible speed sensor if you are so inclined. Also all the pitfalls. Dream Carz of Arizona hooked me up I now have a modded Z-2/Z-3 with full Nav, Sirius, Bluetooth, voice command and can play DVDs!

A few folks had questions. So these should clear those up. The NAV antenna and Sirius Antenna are hidden under the Center grill next to the heat load sensor in the center dash. Lucky for me my cutout extends that far :) Im using a dash mat because hey I live in AZ but no wires are exposed trust me. Im using a Boyo Rear View camera that is intergrated in the the License plate frame. It is adjustable both up and down and has 340 lines of resolution and will work in extreme low light. Reverse images included. My speakers and Subwoofer are from Memphis and the 800 Watt Sub is from Nitro. The low profile enclosure is nothing fancy but I can still store gear and the other top panel in the rear as well. My voice recoginition Mic extends out of the left of the center AC vent approx Steering wheel level GC

  Looks great. I know you will like it.
Is that split-screen Nav screen a feature of the new version software? I don't think that I have that option.
Have you figured out how to use Voice Command to select a specific Music Library track?
What is the button that you relocated to the lighter for?

Jim yes you do have access to it on your Z2 by hitting the MAP button on the bottom of you HU and change the view to forward looking or X2 2d Map display. I completed my upgrade just last night 20 min process. Very happy will send you the details and the guys email I bought it from the AVIC411.COM forum

No as I have no music loaded beyond my IPOD, In short I havent even messed with it lol.

Its a clutch bypass switch, Previous owner was tired of being towed due to the infamous clutch switch problem. His solution was to put it in the pocket of the Metra install kit as seen in my first picture. He also had lots of groovy LEDs from various alarm systems I had removed from the car and I had to buy a new bezel to get rid of all the accessory holes. I moved the button to the lighter position as is pretty much useless anyway. Next project is to route a power point into the console in the deep well area using the cell phone accessory wire. Also closing the lid to the cup holder area allows me to hide the big ugly button.

There a great piece of equipment, have had one in my Z for several months now, took me 4 days to fit it as when the conversion was done [left to right hand drive ]they moved the wiring around. Did 5000 klm's last easter never took a map. Having the hard drive built in saves having to take CD's everywhere too.:-D

Nice work!
I have just finished building/installing 10" Pioneer slim line sub (only 3" deep) hooked up to an old Alpine amp I had from 10 years ago.
I tapped into rear channel speaker wire with Scoche LOC. The system sounds so much rich with a sub. I was into all this back in the early 90s but must have forgotten what I was missing.
I will eventually go to Kenwood double din head unit and mini 4 channel amp (something like ARC) for fronts and rears.
I was wondering what you are doing for front speakers. It looks like you are no longer running factory speakers judging by rear speaker grille. There really is very little space to run anything worthwhile up front especially for 90 and up C4s.

You are correct nothing stock remains of my entire audio system. My entire stock system and front and rear speakers live in my garage cabinet. I am running Memphis Speakers both front and rear and a Memphis amp. The Bloze unit was great in 1990. I just dont know how I would live with out my voice command now and bluetooth for the cell phone. Its too damn nice !!!!
I normally dont run the unit above level 10 which is damn loud. Its that clear and powerful. At 50 it chips paint
Very nice :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Are you using stock speaker enclosure at front? If so, what size speakers?
Also, how heavy did sub-box/sub woofer/amp ended up weighing?

No idea they were installed by the previous owner. I'll assume they are not using the stock encloseure but they fit behind the carpet.

About 15/20 Pounds. It pretty heavy

Hmmm... Not much space next to structural tube. Last time I did the install on my 91, best I could do was install 3" in the factory enclosure next to door sill and add plastic box for 84-89 inside the door and install 4" resulting in 4 speakers up front. Also added Eclipse center channel on the back of the rear view mirror.

First box I made with sub and amp came in around 50lbs (28 for box, 10 for amp and I am guessing another 10 for the sub).
So, I built another identical box w/ 1/2" plywood and lost 15lbs. I figure it's still around 35lbs.

Well, I try to keep it as light as possible for obvious reason - weight vs. hp. Also, since it sits right over the rear axle all extra pounds fall on the rear.
Also, I built the box so that after removing 6 wires (say 5 minutes), I can lift the whole thing out as one piece. It's light enough so even I can do this by myself.
