Folks,
Does anybody have a SECONDARY PORT CONTROL SOLENOID, gm part # 1997222 in hand, that they can send me Priority Mail on Monday? I can pay with Paypal now to ensure delivery. I need this part to get the secondaries running and get this car ready to go to the PNW Gathering.
If so, please PM with price shipped to zip code 83642 or call me at 208-466-8749.

Hammer,
When you get yours, will you let me know if you got the newer style or the older style?
I ordered one a few weeks ago from my local GM parts store, part 01997222. My solenoid was leaking vacuum through, making the pump run all the time.
The new style has 3 ports instead of 2. One for the pump side, and 2 for the switched side.
This new one I got somehow lets vacuum in on the secondaries at idle, throwing either code 56 or 61.
If you are able to get the old style, I would like to know, thanks.

I believe there is a filter that goes on the end of the third outlet. Do you know if that can be plugged for the older cars?

The filter is where fresh air comes in when the solenoid releases vacuum. If you plugged it up, it would not be able to release the secondaries.

Gotcha. I'll have to find one tomorrow. Thanks

John,
Sorry about the reply to a very old post. I've got to ask, were you able to make the new style ACDelco 1997222 work on your car??
Thanks, John

Make sure you buy the filter, dont think the valve comes with it.The first design had a flat filter while the later design has a cylinder type filter.Ive got the part # for the filter somewhere if somebody needs it.I posted the part# for the filter in an older thread about this valve.

Im a little lost here John. The new style #1997222 works in place of the origanl design and will have 3 nipples,2 are for the vacuum plug-fitting and the one nipple on the opposite side is for the filter. The one I got off Fleabay from Jim Butler Chevrolet. The Kodiac truck uses the same vacuum pump and I read somewhere that this truck might use a similar solenoid.Theres a thread here somewhere thats got a new part that will work for these cars.

I've read threads that reference both part numbers 1997201 and 1997212 as suitable solenoids for use with conical filter part number 10159525.

I just Googled the #1997222 and pulled up the valve at $27.00,I need to buy another one while they last.Heres something to think about. When I got this valve I went down to the dealer to get the correct filter based on the correct part# I got from the parts diagram I have, clearly shows the round filter.I paid $8.00 and ordered it.The filter that came in was the small square filter. The guy at the parts counter swore up and down that this was the correct filter and would not give me a refund on a special order part.I cant remember how I got the right part but the parts guys wasnt too happy.

Order GM part # 1997225, it's the closest thing to the OEM design and works perfect. Autozone should stock it too, about $25.00 or so.

Sorry for the lapse in answering.
I got the three port solenoid and bought the filter for it. Works good so far but the vacuum pump is working about every 2 seconds sometimes. I put a loop on the outside of the plenum and it stops so the friggin' check valve is not holding as it should.

Jeff,
GMPartsdepartment.com shows them in stock at 25.81. After you order it and submit your credit card they say it is discontinued and cancel the order.
2nd time they did this to me on a part. They need to update their website or give a telephone number to check stock before your order.
Sorry about the rant.
