The hood isn't back on yet and is still a bit dusty, but it runs hard and pulls hard down the test road from what we can tell since there is ZERO traction!
Fun Z and I'm glad to see it back on the road......going to put the hood on today and buff the paint after its first bath since 2005!
Snapped a few pics of the 10.20 monster!!!

wow what a dream to have her running again. i think i would have gone nuts not being able to drive a zr1 for that long .. your engine and wheels are just plain awsome . a day with a da and you should be good to go .i dont know if you use a da very often on your paint. but 3 m has come out with a great product for dark colored cars . its called ultra fina . it comes in a black bottle with a powder blue label . its is very easy to use almost no wipe off needed . it leaves the paint swirl free. just thought to share so your baby looks real fine before you go to the drag strip and blow some minds . have fun and congrats

What is the 3M stuff called? The only thing I've seen is a polish call 3M Finesse-it, Ultra Fine. Is that what you are talking about?

3M has about a bazillion different paint products. It can be hard to keep them straight.

Haven't seen a post from him in a long time. He's still around.....he hangs out in the c6z06 section on cf. He's is doing performance work only now and has been slammed with cars at his shop that he has just sold to upgrade to a larger 10000 square foot facility.

Is that what you are talking about?it the 3m 3000 ultra fina go to the 3m link that was posted in this thread . what i liked was this tuff almost got oily while working it . you can work this stuff for a long time unlike some stuff that seems to dry instantly. this stuff for me anyway works so well and easy then i use liquid glass or mothers syn wax to finish it off. there really are alot of fine products out there just thought to share what cured my problems with seeing those ever present ugly swirl marks .

Probably not that big-*** 4L80 he put in there.

If you consider the stock 39lb flywheel, plus the clutch pressure plate, from ZF's bellhousing to tail housing i would say they would be very close.
Auto trans has more fluid 10-12 qrts, ZF 2.5 qrts.

Pete,
The 4L80 has 260 lbs weight Filled !
The Zf6 has 230 lbs only the unit, by adding your flywheel 39lb and say 10-15 lbs Clutch,
then you have 280-285 lbs for ZF6 :dontknow:

The flywheel and converter are kinda heavy in that 4l80.....the auto flywheel is a thicker aluminum deal so it's prolly a little heavier then the zf and the auto takes more power to run, but with a 1.4 sixty time I'd say it's a nice mod!

OK guys, i just called them to make sure how much our trans. weight!
I called the ZF trans. dealership and they gave me the exact weight for ZF S6-40 which is : 170 lbs DRY !
the 230 lbs is for ZF S6-650 model.
So Pete you are right about the weight is about same as 4l80. :)

So Pete you are right about the weight is about same as 4l80. :) I believe the 4L80E weights 230lbs including torque converter dry......the ZF s6-650 you posted up is a truck trans, but the ZF s6-40 that comes in at 170 pounds dry is lighter. I think the monster flywheel used for the 4l80e coversion is about the same as a fidenza aluminum piece......should of weighed it when it was out...oh well.

170 dry. without flyweel and clutch.
PETE's 39 lbs flywheel, plus the clutch pressure plate,say ~15 lbs .
total = 224 lbs. DRY!!
now, 2.2 Quarts weight?? this is your job, you weigh it!
