I may need to replace mine - bearings may be bad. I checked with a few sources and all I find are pumps that have separate resovoirs for the 90 ZR-1. I assume the pump and resevoir are separate, but I'm not sure. Before I take mine off (or more to the point, order one) AND invite all the headaches of purging issues, can anyone tell me if our (90) pumps have a separate resovoir or is there a special pump for our Zs??? I'd hate to get the wrong one.

I had one poop out on my 91 a few years back. NAPA store in Naperville had one in stock so it must be a common part. The counter guy could not reverse cross reference it but I'd bet it's used on Geos, Berettas, etc.

Hey Paul, our 90 pumps, and all the rest I think, have a remote resevior.

I'm 99% positive on that info.

Correct. If I had looked at the FSM before I posted this trivia, I'd have known. But, thanks for the response(s), anywho.

Have you figured out if this is a common part?

Yeah I was wondering as well if this is a generic C4 item for my personal parts crib in the garage. :hello:

Mine is a MY95, but the reservoir is separate and "wraps around" the pump.
The pump was surprisingly easy to find at my local parts store (Autozone?)
and not too expensive. I vaguely remember needing a pulley puller.
I also highly recommend replacing the rubber high pressure hose with a
braided SS hose. If you were running dry, someone said you might have
metal shavings in the system and should replace the rack also. I didn't and
all seems fine.
Good luck,
Ted

PS I believe our pump is different than a C4 pump and mounted differently.

I hadn't thought about the shavings potential. Honestly, the problem just started, and I cannot say for sure it is the PS pump. :icon_scra I consulted w/ Pete and we initially discussed letting it go until it was clear which unit (PS/water pump, etc) was bad. But, for $80 and a lifetime guarantee for a new pump - running the risk of metal shavings running amok doesn't make sense. If it turns out to be something else, I'll have peace of mind not introducing metal grit in the system brings), a new pump & a spare (at least).
