I was checking the clutch fluid and decided to look to see if the eprom was stock. Upon inspection I found that a DRM eprom is installed. I am wondering if this could be reason I am experiencing some strange happenings. Such as the coolant low level light does not operate at startup for test. I thought it might be the bulb so I replaced it and still no work. I disconnected the sensor at the surge tank and nothing. Maybe its wires? Also the ABS system acts strange. I should see the ABS active when first rolling the car but sometime it does not activate until much later.
Anyone with a DRM chip? Whats your experience?
I have posted in the items wanted for a stock chip. Want to see if this makes this issues go away. Thanks.

I did not think so. I figure the ABS is related to one of the wheel sensors and the low coolant is still a mystery. Thanks.

I have a DRM chip and zero issues. What you describe has nothing to do with the chip. The ABS light on every ZR-1 flickers after backing the car and beginning to roll forward this is normal as the ABS is going through a self check. The ABS also growls during this period which is a normal healthy action. The ABS light will come on also if you are slowig down and hit an uneven surface such as a pot hole or uneveness in the roadway again normal operation. I have never seen the coolant low light come on in my car now I have another area to look at lol. GC

GOLDCYLON thanks for the reply. The thing about it is sometimes the ABS active light will engage as the car first moves and other times it will be minutes before flashing. The Service ABS warning lights at first startup and then goes off. This indicates that the system is working. That is why I think it maybe a wheel sensor. Who knows at this point I have other fish to fry as I have a new radiator ordered and will have to install it. In regards to the low coolant light I have found conflicting information on this matter. There is some information that I have found that states that the low coolant light will not operate unless there is a sensed low level. However this contradicts the owners manual that states the low coolant light should show at start up so that you know the warning system is working. Again who knows as I can not find any information on this and will research it when I get the factory service manuals:thumbsup: .

Hmm you may have a suspect wheel sensor have you pulled any codes using the paperclip method?

WB another followup I have looked at the Drivers Information Center for three straight days no in my DD looking for a low coolant light to come on during the self check portion before start up. So on my 91 I have to say nada. Also did you pull any codes yet? GC

GOLDCYLON I am beginning to think it will not light unless there is a low coolant level sensed. I will check it out when I replace the radiator. As for checking the codes it will be this weekend before I will have that opportunity as I am out of town right now. I will let you know what I find.

No fault codes are stored. I will have to wait until something sets a code before I will know what is causing the strange ABS activity.
