Patiently I spent all winter porting my intake, mostly with a Dremel which is akin to digging your way out of prison with a spoon, and now I am waiting for the first Byron test and tune so that I can best my 12.54 from last year.
So whats the ETA on a track day here in Il? Pete I know you saw my handy work on the plenum and are probably running alittle scared at this point, but I promise not to spank you too bad(this is called baiting:wave: )
Dominic, Hans, Don, Jeff, PAul, Al, ..........anyone interested in going this month?
Anyhow, fired up and ready to see how it runs.

I'm up for moral support at the moment. Gotta check out a vibration thing before "tracking" it.
I see y'all go Byron to run. Is the Route 66 track too expensive or ???? It is a lot closer than IN (south of Joliet on - IL 53 (old US-66)). The reason I mention it is b/c they have scheduled "Test and Tune" days on a semi-regular basis during the summer months. From what I understand, it is a "come one, come all" format.
I have a good friend that works there and I can get the particulars, if that should interest anyone. (Forgive my ignorance re the "66" track, as I've never looked into running there up to now.:???:)

some of the faster guys might be lucky to get through tech, I also heard that there are way too many cars that go to test and tune, which is only during the week and if you don't get there early enogh you may not get to run.. I ran my 89 there 10 years ago when the track frist opened.. That same yer I ran it at Byron and "Da Grove" and ran the SAME at all 3 tracks .
Also Byron is in IL out by Rockford, Paul, you are thinking of US 41.. in IN

US 41....Yes, that is the one I was thinking of. :o:o (You can tell I don't drag race much, huh? Auto cross / rallies are more my thing, actually.)

Planning on a Byron run tomorrow if the weather is nice....ran the car today, peeked between the runners, secondaries are opening, etc
Only issue is a high idle, no vac leaks, appears throttle cable or throttle bodies are sticking alittle and not letting the blades close all the way. A small tap and it goes back down to 750rpm.

Pete,
Just plan on something much faster than your car, especialy since no one will be there to verify my speed. I will search the dumper for timeslip in the 10s.
Sorry you guys couldn't make it, but I guess they don't let you run if you're wearing a skirt.(when all else fails try provoking :bootyshak).

Paybacks are a *itch, but car and driver ran like sh**. At first I could not get it to hook, as most could not today. My best 60ft 2.09, and my shifting sucked. Best overall run was a 12.87 @ 114.29.
One run was 13.01 @117.47.
HMMMMM......all that porting did not pay off too much.
Last year after I had everyhting sorted was running as fast as 12.54....with slowest times my last day at 12.8.
Back to the drawing board.

I wouldn't beat myself up just yet. ;)
Lee,forget the ET is there a differance in MPH.
If you picked up about 2 MPH that's about 30hp.
I don't really like Byron there clocks are wacko,i guess i wouldn't expect any better from a weekend track.

Pete,
Right now both Lee and I have experienced similar results with Trap Speed being nearly the same as before the P&P. Unfortunately, neither of us benchmarked the hp on the motors before this winter although I doubt my motor was making 387rwhp before P&P. And the hp/tq curves definitely show a higher peaks for each of them. I think track conditions have a lot to do with these results so far. Both of us are running street tires and BG was not hooking. They sprayed the VHT once and that was it.

MPH were all over the place: 113.45, 111.34, 114.29, and 117.47.
Very inconsistent, need to get with Dominic to run a scan and see whats going on with the car.

Lee,what RPM are you shifting at?
At 380-390 rwhp you should run about 116-118
Did you run both lanes? either way, what is your 1/8 mph and 1/4 for each run.
The couple of times i raced at Byron one lane was wacko compared to the other.
I usually run very consistant withen tenths 2 times i ran at Byron the left lane i was running 94MPH 1/8 the other 97+.
The lane i ran 94 1/8 the 1/4 MPH was 124 the other lane i ran 98 1/8 the 1/4 was 121,same day.
The other 2 tracks i run, both have me at 97+/124+
Now i know my Z does not pick up 31mph on the last half and 23 is way too low.
60ft is ET nothing to do with MPH if you noticed some fast ZR-1's at BG were not getting the ET but the MPH was still there.
If you are looking to test your power Byron is not the track for it very inconsistent.
I have raced plenty to know that in my opinion Byron is just a fun track to hang and practice shifts not a test and tune track, unless you wanna go bald :) pulling your hair.
My suggestion try GLD.Route 66,or US41

Randy Worley, nice guy running an 85 he picked up pretty cheap.
The theme of the day was add a turbo to anything....some of the kid's are pretty tune savvy.
Amazing alot of the young kids(tuners) wanted to see the LT-5 engine, and knew alot about the car...asking questions...."hey wasn't that built by Mercury", and people loved the sound.
