View Full Version : No ZR-1 For Me
I will be going to BG without my Z.
Over the past few weeks i've been busy installing Exhaust cams on my Z hoping for a few extra ponies.
Today put her on the dyno she was down 20 rwhp 20 rwtq only made
445 rwhp so i don't see any reason to bring her.
I advanced the cams since my peak power has moved from 6950rpm to 6500rpm.
After BG i will retard them in hopes for the extra ponies.
I have seen as much as 30rwhp differance from cam timing.
We'll find out.
My goal has been to hit 470,otherwise i will have to suffer with 465RWHP,life sucks :)
See ya'll at BG.
Who's up for hitting the strip joints since i won't be drag racing.

Pete,
I say after they roll out the next Gen LT-5 prototype with variable cam timing we start pouring free drinks, get everyone liquored up....then load that :censored: right into a U-haul and head back to Chicago.
Or maybe we'll stop at Blackjack's on the way home and trade it for a few lap dances. :bootyshak It would probably end up in some hilljackers 87 5.0LX and we'd see it back at Byron running 10s.
I think you might be able to pull off your 470hp then.

A few of us were talking about making a run into Nashville..... But "Tattle Tales" is always good for a laugh.

Darn it, Pete. I really thought you might have had something more this time. I'm disappointed for you, brother. Perhaps you've just wrung out the maximum potential from that bad boy, and found the limit.
See you at BG!

LOL, I hope 445whp isn't the cutoff for bringing a car!

Todd,i haven't given up on the cams yet,i think cam timing might be wrong right now,i kinda advanced the intake this is why peak came in at 6500 compared to 6900+RPM.
I will try different cam timing when i get back from BG if still no extra ponies then will go with just the intakes and settle for 465rwhp and done.
A couple more times should do it.:)
See you @ BG

Polo, what i have discovered playing with cam timing the compression pressure does nothing,at one point i had killer pressure had crispy throttle at the buttom but peak numbers were not there.
If somebody has done more testing on this i would love to hear what they came up with, compare notes.
I have all compression #'s writing down from every cam timing i have tried i did not check this set up yet i will after BG just for comparison.

You have way more cam play then me. I have heard that long duration or advanced timing will lower your cranking pressures. With your lose of power I was thinking this might be what happened to you?
