As some of you know I picked up these Dymags IIs for a few hundred bucks, they were painted charcoal metallic, over what appears to be a black primer underneath. The inside of the barrel is still the factory silver, and upon scuffing the paint I noticed that the factory finish was still underneath.

On this particular rim there really are no nicks that get into the magnesium. So after scuffing I shot the wheels with Zinc Primer, then with some Wurth Wheel paint and will see how the adhesion holds up.

I will be getting a product called Prekote next week which is EPA friendly and is used to seal magnesium....simply spray the prekote, rub it with scotchbrite, rinse, dry..primer and paint. I am not going to disturb the factory finish just seal any bare metal. Namely where the hubs mate.

Here are the test pics...

Congrats, those are quite beautiful, and I imagine will look killer on a ZR1. What sizes are they F & R?

Stock sized 17x9.5 and 17 X11, will need spacers as these are GS offset.

Getting close to completion:

1 more wheel face to refinish, had a few blems. Then I need to get spacers, or steal =Jeff=s when he's out of town.

And yes I'll get the garage cleaned up right after I get the wheels done so get off my :censored: ! Sorry, alittle defensive been listening to my wife complain all winter about the aluminum shavings from the porting project, and the "paint smell" in the garage.....if I hear "God does that smell" one more time when she comes into the house from the garage.....to the moon Alice, to the moon!

Don't think you'd look very cool cruising in the pink vette. Although the dymags might help.

Pink vette is my daughters.....actually I'll be turning up the HP in that, it has an allenhead screw that limits the speed to 2.5mph, then you can open it up to 5mph....damn thing has a stereo, cupholder, working turn signals, and open the hood its got the LS1 under it.

**If there wasn't a 120lb weight limit I'd probably take it for a spin.

Pete,

Out of the kindness of my heart, what I can do is swap my motor for yours, instead of going through the hassle of pulling the plenum, etc.
for a refinish.
