Hi again-
The leather portion of my '92 ZR-1 console door is damaged. There is a tear at the back and on the passenger side it has come loose from the lid. I've looked at various online Corvette parts sites and I find console doors for sale but they appear to be only the plastic portion, with no leather cushion. Or I find after market cushions but they are embroidered or otherwise not stock in appearance. Do any of you know where I can get a Black Stock type door, or the stock looking cushion for it? Here is a 1024 by 680 color glossy photograph with circles and arrows and a paragraph above describing the scene of the problem...

As a side note, From an earlier post... the problem with the Cigar Lighter/"Radar Detector power takeoff" turned out to be rust and corrosion in the inside of the recepticle. Took it apart, a little WD-40, a wire brush and some time spent cleaning and it works like a charm. Little by little I'm getting The Beast back up to it's former glory! Woo Hoo!

I think I am following what you want... a black leather replacement that looks OEM (sans embroidering etc)... I would contact Gerardo at DownSouthVettes>>
http://www.dsvettes.com/cont2/

He is a genius with leather...He has done work for my C6 including center console, steering wheel, knobs, boots and one day the door panels>>>

And his pricing is excellent

That is the part, but... The description says this:

"Repair your 1984-96 Console with our Springs and Buttons, or install a whole new lid to match your new interior. Black Lids may be painted with our Color Coat Interior Spray."

I don't think you would want to paint leather to match color, so I think that the standard C4 doesn't have the leather cushion (I'm not 100% positive on that), and that that is what these suppliers are all selling. Mid America, Corvette Central, Eckler's et al I may have to have one made like ZR1Vett posted.

Okay, I'm not following your Q here.

I think all 89 thru 96 C4's used the same console lid...black leather(?) covered, not too sure it's leather, with very little padding. My OEM lid looks exactly the same as yours and looks exactly the same as the stuff I posted...it only comes in black, no extra padding...that's optional from those aftermarket guys, and was never available OEM. Having said all that, the part I linked is an aftermarket reproduction of what came as OE in our Z's. You can find real GM lids on e-bay from time to time...I think? You could also call Corvette Salvage in Philidelpia(?), PA and get one from a wreck.

Anyway, the part description is warning you that it only comes in the same cheap looking black material as the OEM part. I hope I'm answering your Q's correctly?

Hmm actually 90-96 are the same. The 84-89 were different console lids. MY 90 was the departure from the Atari dash. As Tom states it comes in only one color black and is not leather but a vinyl covered foam core composite simular to the dash and door panels. GC

Tom and GC-
Forgive the double quote but I wanted to give proper credit to both of you. Now I get it! doh! For some reason I thought it was padded leather, and the ones for sale were just plastic. I didn't have any other cars available to compare mine to. I will buy the aftermarket part sans hinge and install using my hinge, light and inside cover to maintain the stickers placed there during manufacture. I'm not NCRSing her, I'm just prettificating her. :) Another clean up project will be compleated. Thanks to both of you for your help. :worship:
