I've got the driver's side cam cover leaking oil. It appears to be at the rear since the oil is dripping onto the headers and then burning off when it gets warm. I've tightened all of the easy access bolts but can't get to the rear-most two. How much should it cost to have the cam cover removed and new sealant added? I know it's 99% labor since I believe the sealant is around $50. Thanks for your help,

To get those 2 bolts out you first have to take out the drivers seat. 2nd you have to take off the brake booster. It is only then that you can get the bolts off. The 4 nuts that hold the brake booster on from the inside is really hard to get at. The guys who engineered that must have had a hang-over from the night before:icon_scra . Good luck....

You have to remove:
The plenum
The injector housing
The AC compressor
The brake booster
And to remove the brake booster you need to remove:
The seat
The seat rail
The lower hush panel
Book rate on it will probably be around 1,000 bucks at the GM dealership.

First estimate from Chevy dealer was $275. I asked if this was for the left side or right. He said it was for the right (easier side). The estimate request from my wife (who took the car in) was for the left side. Since they'd messed up on the estimate, and the re-estimate on the left side was $850, the manager said he'd drop the price to $700. It should be done in a few days. I think I'll send my wife anytime I need some work done on the Z. It might have helped. BTW, the dealership is Coastal Chevrolet in Savannah, Ga. Great group of guys!

Still seems low for dealership prices. The seals are not cheap, and they should be replacing all the seals.
